yea dude, you absolutely wanted him to call. you were almost pot committed, you had top pair top kicker, and you had to protect that hand w/ the 2 to the flush as well. Solid play, unlucky cards.

He got lucky. But your stack was so small you couldn't even make your opponent consider folding. Having $5 at a $50 table seems like a bad idea. (Others might disagree with me on this, though.)

Question: Would he have called if you pushed in $50? Probably not.

The problem is your bet size. Even if you had $50, if you bet half the pot, you're asking for a caller. Your hand is a good one, but it needs protecting. If you don't have enough to bet the whole pot on the flop, your stack size is the problem. m2c.

All you can do in no limit holdem is get all your money in when you're a favorite to win. The results are a facet of this game that makes it so easy and so very hard.
