BankItDrew will become famous soon enough
Usually, when I sit down at any given table, I sit out until I reach the small blind. It has recently been brought to my attention that it would be cheaper to post a big blind in LP, than it would be to wait.

100NL PS example:
1) waiting for BB = $1.50/9 hands = $0.165/hand
2) Autoposting from one spot left of Button = $2.50/15 hands = 0.17/hand

What is the breakeven point? I post because I lack a calculator

Is this math correct? What is the cheapest way to post????

I'm not following your math, also consider that a post from the CO has a different expectation than a post from the BB. In a Limit game much more of that money is comming back to you. In a No Limit game, it's not so clear.

The short of it is, posting from the HJ/CO isn't a big deal. Just do it.

It costs 1.5 times the big blind to play one orbit.
one orbit consists of n hands where n is the number of players.

It is cheaper per hand to post is late position if you will play more hands before the big blind than n/1.5

In a 10 player game, this is 7 hands, or from the CO.
In a 6 player game, this is 4 hands, aka never.

However, as Fnord mentioned, your equity is intrinsically higher from late position, So it effectively costs less to post a blind. The reason for this is you do not lose the entire blind every time. You can think of the cost to post a blind as the cost of the blind minus the equity of the position.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

I just make sure I never post UTG in case the hand shows up as a "Spot the donk" post on FTR.

I post it in MP and onward. Usually when I sit at a game ive been looking through a couple to find someone desperate to throw money away. I dont want that guy busting out before ive played a hand so ill sit in as soon as i can. Im not posting in EP though. Generally ill post if the blind is more than 3 seats away (full ring).

meh.. I post sometimes , I dont sometimes. Truthfully I think it just makes for unique situations. These situations dont really cost you anything, but can get the gears turning in your head. People sometimes treat you differently when htey 'know' youre dead money. I dont know, its fun, and it doesnt loose anyone that much money in the long run.

In No Limit? I doubt it would be very big.

I play ALOT more hands in later positions so i dont tend to post in EP as I know im probably not getting a playable hand anyway.

If you are at a nice loose passive table where lots of drawing hands are limpable from any position (e.g. 56o) and will get paid off big when they hit then I dont see why you wouldnt post from UTG+1. You want to get into pots with these guys NOW.
