I thought this was widely known ... regarding Full Tilt Poker
I just finished playing a 9 man SnG $10+1, and 7 of the 9 players had Auto Muck Hands checked in Lobby / Options !!! so what you say? read on ...
So Whenever they muck their cards at Showdown I and anyone in the know can see them, so this gives me the advantage in that I know what hands they are likely to play ! (The cards are slightly crossed out signifying they have been mucked.) [I'm not allowed to post an image atm]
The reason for this anomaly is that the Hold 'em rules state a losing player can ask the Dealer to see the Mucked cards, in Live games rarely would anyone do such a thing as its frowned on.
Make sure you un-check this option in your FTP Lobby and then play away keeping an eye on the Last Hand window

I recently discovered this too, now I don't automuck anymore either. Seeing what cards they've mucked has turned out to be a huge help to me, especially since it can be so difficult to get good reads on online opponents. Definitely something everyone who plays on FTP should know about.

Ahhh. Auto muck is for your cards only if you win. Even when this buttong is checked or unchecked, you will always be able to see the other persons cards when hands go to showdown. As will they always be able to see your cards when you lose at showdown, you can't stop it.

Before you get flamed...
There's not much you can tell us about various poker room software features and what they do that most FTRers don't know already.
As a noob, you'll get the most out of FTR by reading mostly and posting questions occasionally (there is no such thing as a stupid question, but please use the search feature to see if it has been asked and answered by others before posting).
We appreciate your enthusiasm for participating in FTR.
We take no responsibility for the intelligence or lack thereof of anything posted in the commune, or by bigred. Enjoy your stay.

Oh, I know they can see my cards too. It's still a HUGE help to be able to see theirs.

as for the auto-muck. yup. why not uncheck it? dont you want to occasionally show your hand? or at least reserve the right?
i rarely do, but sometimes i feel it can "tilt" my LAGgy counterparts.

That could be cumbersome when multitabling. I always auto-muck.

ive probably shown less than 10 hands all year over 200k hands. Automuck makes multitabling much easier and if i want to show a bluff or a strong hand, i just go to the lobby and uncheck automuck for that 1 hand.

Auto muck takes an extra 3 seconds of time waiting for you to decide. Over 500K hands at 5/PTBB that adds up to $$$$$ against fish. Turn it on when you need it like Bode said. When on 4 tables and playing I never show. I bet I've shown less than Bode. Keep them guessing.

OK guys I know I didn't use the search feature as already stated, but this IS the Beginners Circle. So discussion about Multi-tabling etc is probably Over The Top, I only do 2 tables at once and thats still not optimal because I AM A BEGINNER ... my original post was to highlight a [maybe] overlooked edge in Full Tilt s/w.
I didn't think I was bringing news of the Holy Grail to you experienced players ... that would be utter conceit. But then hey if a little girl of 7 years can confound an entire Police Force ... you know the one;

A Truck was stuck under the bridge and everyone was wondering how they can dismantle the bridge, use dynamite etc to free the vehicle. well the little girl goes to the Policeman and says "mister why don't you let air out of the tyres?"
|
If this to obscure let me explain ... SIMPLE is GOOD and what you might find mundane could very well be overlooked

op. Good post - nothing earth-shattering, but in the right place and could be good for someone. Welcome.
As for mucking hands or not, everyone has their own ideas on that, i used to do it often and now do it rarely.
Trainer's comment about the cost over 500k hands was interesting, I hadn't thought of that before.

Play UB exclusively right now and automuck. No nice little window to see opps hands there... nor is there that groovy "let's look at a consolidated list of hand histories" like Stars has. Just a supah crappy text HH window...
So my solution is PAHud that will pop the mucked hand values right on the table. I learned about it here, makes my life way easier, and follows me whereaever I go.

I'm not understanding why not having the automuck on is an advantage. Doesn't it just save you the trouble of clicking "muck"?

the debated advantage is that you can show hands when doing so may influence opp's play at a later time. Say you are super-tight but play a huge bluff and show your cards, people may call your push with the nuts next time around if they aren't that observant. Etc. Sometimes it's good to push a tilting player completely over the edge as well.
As for the trouble of clicking muck, this is only a time issue as if you do not act then the default action is to muck the hand
