How do you guys feel about this thread at 2+2? It's claiming that at the new $50NL tables the BBJ is responsible for taking 4PTBB/100 of your winrate. Can this be possible? Where would this effect your winrate most. As a fairly Aggro player around the flop I depend a lot on C bets and RRing C bets to make a decent amount of my money. Are these small ball pots the ones that may be killing my rate? I'm sure that they are not responsible for the losses that I am having totally, but when fighting this amount of rake, you play different and a little desperate, since your winrate only climbs with the bigger pots won. Could this uphill battle in July be from the implementation of the BBJ?

well I've done some research. First BBJ was won on the 25th of June so I am pretty sure that it started the day or two before. Can this be just coincidence?

Jesus. It's a cracking scam. How can you suffer -4BB/100?

My worry is that everywhere will start doing this. The only hope is to get out of the microstakes and up to around $200NL where it matters little. Either that or go donkament pro.

Isn't there a line in PT for BBJ contributions? I don't know much about it but it seems as though you should be able to add that to you total and get a pretty clear idea of how much you are losing to the new rake.

Is BBJ big blind jackpot? where every hand the rake takes an extra big blind? can someone please explain what is going on and how it will affect everyone?

And what's this thing about -4bb/100?

Bad beat Jackpot. Lose with quads or better using both your hole cards, to a villians hand who's using both of his hole cards and win like $50-$100k+.

In order to seed the jackpot, they rake an extra $0.50 per hand or so and put $0.40-$0.45 towards the jackpot.

Based on calculations of the percentage of this money Hero is contributing, it costs roughly 4bb/100 extra to play at a $50NL BBJ table.

I went to AP specifically because Everest wasn't offering rakeback and the bonuses weren't very large. Lo and behold I get offered two new bonuses at Everest today. Needless to say, I'll be playing with the mega fishies at the FR tables of EVP for awhile longer.

my rb account at AP totally sucks. its better than nothing, but it aint much, either. it sure aint no 30%. after the stupid "fees," its not even the 22% they claim...whatever.

the action is quite soft, but at 25NL, i cant even play at a BBJ table, so, i guess i am not directly affected. then again, i cant clear a bonus on time, either.

most BBJ's are ripoffs, imo, and i try to avoid them wherever i can. as long as stars never implements one, i will always have some place to play...lol.

anyone have more info on this? Ive been playing at AP's skin Vegas Poker 24/7 for awhile now because of getting rakeback there. Ever since they added BBJ tables on AP but not on VP24/7, there are at most 5-6 games running each of 50nl and 100nl. I was toying around with closing/reopening my account with AP just so i could have decent game selection, but ...

I play on AP regularly and have actually found that the BBJ tables have increased my winrate since they were implmented. I did a quick calculation from my database and see that BBJ costs an extra 3.2PTBB/100. However, the donk factor has gone way up and I am killing .50NL SH for 7PTBB/100 since then. This is over 20K hands so the sample is fairly significant. And yes, the non-BBJ tables tend to be much tougher than the BBJ tables so I generally only play the BBJ tables now. In addition, AP improved their bo-nus struture so you are getting back at least 1/3 (maybe 1/2) of the bad beat rake you are paying. So (for now), I actually like the BBJ because it certainly appears to be making me a lot more $. If I start losing, then I'll change my mind!
