4nl. I took a brief shot at 10nl, lost my head, had to fall back and am currently grinding my way back up again.

My 10nl adventure:

note that these graphs are mashing together all currencies, dollars, pounds, euros... so as far as this graph is concerned, $4=£4=€4

Nice graph rpm. Redline is sexay for any limit, especially micros. It's pretty rare for newer players to be able to breakeven on their redline.

thanks dranger. i ran like cathy freeman for most of this sample. although i guess that only really explains the showdown winnings and not so much the redline. i don't expect them to look like this in the future though. for one, i expect more volume next month

What you're failing to realize is this the Beginner's Circle. Most beginners don't mass table like they do in the FR or 6m forums and its not going to be a source of income for most people anyways. Don't think just because people aren't playing a lot hands that they aren't putting forth effort. They might cut out playing time to study, or only play 4 tables a couple hours a night and really focus instead of clicking buttons.
A lot of the guys here are either well established in a career, or are in college and don't have the time to put in a lot of grind. Take eug for example. I obviously don't have an excuse, I'm just lazy as shit, but that's me. :P

yeah, me for example, i work 50 hours a week and still find just enough time to put in a few hours a night but that only amounts to about 200 hands or so if I'm lucky. I wish I had more time I could put into playing online. I'd honestly rather go down to the casino though and I put about 8 hours a week in there.

[excuse]I have way over my usual amount of credit hours just so I can graduate this semester (not to mention all upper class and one writing intensive English class where we have written over 35 pages so far this semester) plus a long-distance girlfriend plus no real life poker friends plus working out daily. And my bday was April 27th.[/excuse]
Also, I'd be surprised if running oEV or higher in non-showdown winnings at microstakes is the best strat but looks pretty nonetheless.

i'm sure if you play completely optimally (like if nutsinho were playing 2nl), your redline would prolly be about BE, but if any actual 2nl'er's redline is BE, then they're prolly doing it wrong. running hot does definitely effect redline. if you always flop the nuts, then 1) you're never folding (hence, your redline never goes down) and 2) players are going to fold a lot on the river because players fold to 3rd barrels a lot.
so if rpm's running sick hot over 10k hands, his redline could very well be the result of that.

Sigh! Time is my biggest issue when it comes to poker. I'm sure if I quit my job & left my family and just concentrated on poker full time for 6 months I'd be able to go pro (ie Poker being my sole source of income & surviving from month to month). But I think that would be just a bit too much of a sacrifice to make. I don't see how I'll even get past 10nl in the next year if all I can do is 2-5k hands a month. But I enjoy the hands I play.

First 10K@50NL- 10K-17K they changed the PS structure and I struggled to find good places to play. Everything after 25NL/50NL FR.

All hands at 5NL. I took about 5 or 6 months off so I'm not tilting over this graph, but I am disappointed in my spewy ways. Near the end there I had one session that was -$20 =D
I struggle to find the time to play, let alone do all the studying of the game, hands, articles etc that I should be doing. The only reason I got these hands in was because I wasn't working lol

Yeah you're right, but I'm single tabling until I start winning consistently and getting a handle on the game. No need to lose money any quicker than I'm doing already.
Plus I work 6 days a week, start at 4am, and spend most of my day off teaching muay thai and boxing. I try to put in 300 hands a day 5 or 6 days a week, plus study time to try and improve my game, it doesn't leave much time to do anything else.

MIght post graph later but lets just say it was not at all good. Started off the month by moving upto 10nl and played really well for a few days. Realized I was missing alot of value by being such a nit etc. Had a great conversation in IRC after a really good session and thought I was onto some earth moving changes. Well the changes I am convinced need to be made but so far not working out very well for me. I've had to move back down to 5nl as I continue to find the correct balance with my new game. Got about 40K hands in total thanks a big part to my new job actually doesn't care if I play when things are slow.
May I'm really hoping is going to be much better than April!

Here it goes my first graph ever:
It's one month of play at NL2$ on pokerstars. I know it's a small sample but I play 1 or 2 tables at a time. Not the most impresive graph in terms of profit I must admit though. The first half I guess I had to adjust and just learn to fold ! But anyway. The reason I am posting this graph is for the red and the blue line. The blue line suggest me that I suck on river play, and the red line...well I don't know what to think about it. Seems pretty high compared to your graphs above. Any hints would be appreciated.

Playing only one table is f'in ridiculous. You'll spend a lot of time waiting for your turn to act. This will lead to being impatient and playing hands that you shouldn't. Playing more tables (at least 2-3) will actually allow you to play a better, tighter game. It's easier to fold a "maybe" hand, when you have a decision to make at another table. Trust me, try it, get used to it. Profit, imo.

when you are learning you should be paying attention to your opponents instead of just waiting for your turn to act. especially if you are struggling with even one table.

If you get impatient playing just one table causing you to play bad, you have issues with patience that need to be worked on. The idea that playing more tables lets you play a more solid game is logically absurd. With 1 table you don't need a HUD - you can observe people and get solid reads the old-fashioned way.
If heist plays better one-tabling, then it's perfectly ok to take it slow and learn the game that way. After a few sessions you'll be more comfortable adding another table, and keep adding till you start reaching a point where your level of play deteriorates.

Yes, If heist plays better one-tabling or if he's not comfortable with the pace of 2 tables, then he should stick to one. However, I'm not the first person to suggest playing more tables as a way to naturally tighten up. He didn't say what his issues were. That being the case, my advice was probably not the best and I shouldn't have said that 1-tabling was ridiculous. In fact, I remember when playing 2 tables was difficult.

I have no idea if this is facetious or whatever, but cut it out. It's an internet forum and we're just here to exchange knowledge with each other, so we help each other get better at poker. In a discussion forum, mistakes can be made, people jump on you for making the mistake, and so on. Trust me, I've made bad posts and been berated for it. But remember that basically this a friendly place and although poker players are aggressive dickheads (when it comes to talking about poker, i'm sure we're all really nice guys IRL), in the end we're not here to get at each others throats, and are trying to be as helpful as possible.
