It's very early, and it's hard to guage how someone is really going to play later on, but tigger has limped into two early pots. He likes to see flops. He limped late with K9 or K8 in second hand first in! He has my attention. Too early to pass judgement. You should NEVER make solid major reads early on.

Generally you should be paying attention to people who aren't entering a lot of pots and then suddenly raising. If you have a premium hand then take it deep. They may follow.

Any time there's a showdown, you should be gathering info. What kind of info do we have here? Well we know that andy will semi bluff a draw. It's interesting that he waited till the turn. What this means is that he doesn't like semi bluffing without info. Maybe a bet on a flop out of position will never be a semi bluff from andy.

This was the first time I caught a hand I could play. Once NY checks behind on the flop and a blank hit the turn I knew it would be a check fest and took it down. The extremely tight player after me is VERY unlikely to have rags, and the button would have bet any sort of hand on the flop that relates to these rags. Why did I go all in? Because it's stone cold baby. It looks like a bluff, but it's required since I had to utilize my fold equity as much as possible. My read was tight, so I felt alright.

This is an easy decision. A lot of people put it all in with a pair higher than 55. You really shouldn't without a read, or if you're deperate. I had both going on here. Let's gamble. Key hand allowed me to open up right when I needed to.

This hand is the most interesting of the tournament in my opinion. Once again tigger makes a steal attempt, and again I have A8 but unsuited in the blind. I'm not as confident in my hand as before because I already told him not to steal from me, so I figure MAYBE he's got a hand. I'm willing to see a flop and outplay him however, because I simply can't allow him to continue stealing from me. Now I had to be very careful here when I flopped the ace. I can't get heavy to push him off a draw since i have kicker trouble. I'll just have to let him draw and not get too risky. Then I catch two pair on the river and my 200 becomes a value bet. He then comes over the top of me large. Hmmm, what to do what to do. I just call with two pair fearing he has a set. Turns out he misenterpreted my caution. His hand really sucks bad.

First off, for STI .... Steps are a thing on Party Poker. You finish high enough you go on to the next "step", i.e. gain entry to the next level tourney. Otherwise you either get a freeroll to try again at the same level, get bounced back to the previous level (sometimes with some minor cash), or get bounced out and start from scratch. The step 5 tourney is big money for the top 4 finishers.

I can't tell you how many newbie lessons I learned from reading through this. Not only on how you got your reads and what you did with that info ... but also it will help me plug a lot of leaks in my own game and image (and no, I'm not as maniacal as tigger, LOL).

Hey Rondavudu, very interesting and informative post. Made me late for work.

I haven't played a Sit n' Go for a long time, but you've kind of inspired me to give it a whirl again. I tended to be like the super-tight dudes in your example, but you've opened my eyes to how to read the table.

I don't like this hand at all. I think it's a definite fold preflop. You limped here for 8% of your stack. You also have to fold to any raise behind you and you don't really have enough to limp-push and a steal though it might work. It really looks like you're spewing chips on this hand.

I can't rightfully defend myself on that horrible hand Rilla. I was skating on the edge. I definately got myself into a situation there. I would have folded to a raise preflop, but wanted a chance to see the flop. I have a little Sammy Farha in me. I like seeing flops because I'm a confident postflop player. I think folding KQ at this stage with my chip count from EP was the wrong move.

In terms of postflop, if I were to make a move, it would have to be all in, since I was stone cold. I felt as if the pot was up for grabs, and I felt that it was going to get real ugly fast, or I would have a small reward. The risk/reward was way off balance, but I think that happens when you are on the brink of fold equity hell.
