OK,

here's a recent hand that i rather well and rather poorly at $10 on

Typical passive $10 game and it was only my second hand.

cheers.

You bet the pot on the flop and got called on a mostly disconnected board. Villain happened to have one of the weakest hands you can expect here. You put nearly a full stack in the pot with a pair of Ts. In the long run, I think you will lose your stack here more often than take one. I don't like the preflop raise, and I think that's where the trouble starts. You build a big pot that is likely to be multi-way with a marginal hand that doesn't play well multi-way.

dont raise here preflop.

why do you bet pot sized on the flop and put only 1/4 in on turn? if you don´t think your hand is good here, check and maybe call and look for a cheap showdown. such smallish bet on turn is a waste of money, you´re giving great odds to draw on you, you´re not getting the max amount of money in the middle if you´re ahead and villian is willing to call plus you´re screaming weakness. assuming you´d fold if villians pushes here, a check would have been the cheaper way.

I messed up here - forgot to hide the result.

Yeh agreed - i was pleased (but not suprised) he turned over the ten. Not suprised because at this limit many players regard TPTK as a strong hand.

I was hoping that the raise would result in head up play.

The flop bet was an attempt to take the pot. I got a caller so i decided to slow down. You see, this is the difficulty - i reckon that a pot bet on a multi-way flop show weakness - players will realise that it an attempt to take the pot with a weakish hand and therefore call. As villain still only called my 1/4 turn bet i then felt he was also weak. I called his river bet as i still had him on a weak hand purley because there was no raise and felt the bet was in response to my weak check. I was trying to showdown as cheaply as possible without showing weakness.

No doubt played it like a donkey though.

Thanks for your'e input
