Im still rustling up a bit of cash for the bankrole so ive been playing .1/.2 just last couple of days at bet365.
Dont experience too many (compared to what some of you guys say) fish even at these levels although their are suckouts still.
Thus, in this hand did i make a good read or was i a manic to call?

6max table
im bb
ep mini rasies to 2xbb. recently ive seen players mini raising with pps so this is my read here.
2 callers and i decide to call based solely on my read with A8 suited.
flop is A23 rainbow
Everyone checks the flop. Mini raiser doesnt bet. im waiting to see if he'll advertise a set despite having a pair of aces . The fact no one else bet makes me pretty certain noone else has the aces either but i wouldnt count it out.
turn is a 5 so i probe bet 2xbb to find out where i stand. 2 callers including mini raiser. River is another two, so i check it (weak) i seriously smelt fish by this point. mini raiser pushes all in for 3/4 my stack other caller folds. I think hard and look at his actions.
It is possible i think he has pocket 4s, but why all in? He would have called my probe bet hoping to thus trap on the river but i think thats unlikely. Did he catch a set and now has a boat? Again i find this unlikely becasue he would have bet the set before now trying to protect his hand ?
Alternativly he had pocket twos and is now trying to catch people with the straight out.
Would you call?

Im a bit confused at your write up....

Did you bet the flop or check it?......if you want him to tell you if he has a set, you need to bet here to find out where he stands.....

So you want to know whether you should call an all-in with TPWK? I wouldn't, but hey.

these dicisions i think are hard to comment on without actually playing the hand yourself.. theres alot of feel envolved.. I've had situations like that where i'd shoot myself for folding, man i've had similar situations where i've called with A high(and was correct), and aswell as that i've had similar situations where i wouldn't consider for more than a second that i should call. Theres alot of emphasis on the players own style.

Your read on the "big bet doesnt fit for a strong hand" is good thinking.. but again its difficult for me to say, I personally make a push like that with the nuts on occasion. If i think a player is a fish and will call anything then for sure i'll push, If i think a player has some intellegence and would make a similar read the one you made then again i may push.

Considering that its at the river i probably wouldnt call. Theres a better situation for you coming up in the next 100 or so hands, be patient.
villain goes AI

i win pot

Did you ever consider he may have minraised 56 suited preflop?
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

A minraise at these stakes means very little. He could have anything. Any X4 has you beat and it's not worth 3/4 of your stack to find out. I Fold here.

Suggestion: Maybe start thinking of your post-flop bets more in relation to the pot size instead of the bb size. Not nitpicking but it just makes it easier when you start thinking in terms of pot odds.
I'll be a rootin' tootin' shootin' damn fool, protectin' my chips.

Good point egg
Ill remember that one. May just have been the thoughts i had writing it down that made me think in bbs. But point taken onboard
Good point rondavu, the only problem with that is im not playing against players who would make that sort of move. And i had decent reads on this table. Others were simply only raising good cards or minirasing with pps seemingly to build a pot if they hit the set. To have seen somebody raise with nothing in position would have been as foreign as pot odds to some of these players which is why i continue to play with them while building the br.
