Villain is 29/3/3 over 115. I feel like this is a decent sample.

Based soley on the above his 3 bet range must be 99+AKs according to stove. Considering he it out of position I limit that to qq+AK. I think I need to 4 bet this guy and let it go if he shoves.

Preflop:Standard raise, calling a 3 bet is dumb? But at the same time I was hoping that my position would give me enough of an advantage to play this hand correctly.

Flop: Such a small bet gives me decent odds to call, but against my initial preflop range even without including JJ , my equity is 30% or 2.3:1 thus he is laying me 3.7 I have to call here.

Turn: Since I still have no idea where I am I give up.

After thinking for a while I thinking giving up early and dumping a better hand is a smaller mistake then go forward in this case.

Just when you thought a 115 hands was a decent sample, I give you this link - http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...25&postcount=7

As for the hand, PF is fine. What a weak ass flop bet though. Any reads on betting patterns? Not sure why you have to think about folding the turn. If you wanted to take it down or see a free river, raise the flop.

Yeah, I am tempted to reraise to 125 but is building a huge pot where I am way behind. How often is that weak flop bet mean that he really is weak?

Yeah, that's the problem. It's player/read dependent. Pay attention to the game. Look for betting patterns. Don't bloat the pot here by raising. If it wasn't a 3bet pot, I might consider raising the flop, but that's only if I know he's capable of laying it down. Someone may have different advice, but as played is fine IMO.

depending on villain's 3b number, folding preflop really can't be too bad. 26/3's are just sooo much more likely to flat hands that we dominate, even if they are OOP, so we're like never winning a big pot unless we have some sort of read on him that he's a huge spewtard who will stack off with JJ on a K-high flop or something. i can only really see flatting here being great if we are doing it with the intention of floating.

similarly, if we put him on a range of 99+, AK, then flatting this flop doesn't make much sense (again unless we're doing it with the intention of floating). either he has us beat (99+), or we're headed for a split at showdown (AK), so it's a bluff or fold spot.

in other words, i'm fine with folding all 3 streets.

I like folding as well. AKo is a power house - but it's not unbeatable. 3 is his PFR frequency. It's not his 3bet frequency. While he can certainly have random shit in there it is overwhelmingly likely that he only 3bets AA/KK. The question then becomes if he can fold AA/KK. If this was not a 3bet pot Td9d would maybe be in your range and the flop would be super scary and you might be able to bluff him off AA/KK.

Say that again - bluff him off AA/KK.

If your profit in the hand is contingent on your ability to bluff him off AA/KK your best move is probably an early fold.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.
