I can either bet or check correct? I was playing NL Texas Hold Em' and the people laughed at me and said YOU CAN'T CHECK and I heard "How long have you been playing this."

You CAN check right? I was out of it that day but I know I was the first person to start after the flop, you do not HAVE TO BET right? I just put in 50c chip and it was all ok...

and another question: Whats the difference between antes and blinds.

I know blind as in big blind, little blind, 2 players left of dealer or whatever but what about antes?

after the flop: of COURSE YOU CAN CHECK! They must have known you were new at this, tell them to fuck off.

ante: everyone puts in an ante before every hand.

Blinds: only the 2 people after the Button put in a small blind and a big blind.

I am having an extreme brain fart right now, what about if this situation occured pre-flop? I'm always just calling...DOES THE FIRST PERSON HAVE TO BET OR FOLD RIGHT THERE? Wow...

wait ugh someone explain pre-flop I just can't get things together...how does the betting start on Partypoker you just call a set amount. It's just like Bet $5.

Is betting the BB concidered a bet? I think I'm close to understanding

pre flop..to stay in the hand you have to call the big blind. You CAN NOT check preflop.

So basically your options:

Preflop: Call or Raise
Postflop: Check, Call, Raise
