just wondering how other 5NL'ers are doing around here.
Whether your in it right now or have recently surpassed the level, it'd be cool to compare some stats and time lines n'such

Myself, i'm doing rather poorly, a little discouraged at the moment but it's frustrating because I just can't get in the volume and am not nearly as focused as I would like to be.

I'm usually too tired at night or i'm chasin after my lil toddler...

This is after like 10 months lol sad, but i took liker 6 months off without playing a hand and I started playin again in April but only 12k hands since then ...so here it is. I welcome any thoughts

anyways here's my report...

You need to work on tightening up the gap between your VPIP and PFR by calling less and raising more. Read the beginners digest if you haven't done so already.

 Yes, you are calling too much and not raising enough. Your aggression is also low for 5nl but thats the byproduct of just calling preflop, you let the villain take control of the hand.
From these stats, you are likely calling too much and not getting enough value when you do raise and you aren't picking up too many small pots by attacking limpers.

 are you seriously limping all PPs UTG....stop that lol raise 77+ and AQ+ and thats it, fold the rest, including your beloved AJ and KQ...yea just noticed your 19/8...so to reiterate what everyone was saying for emphasis, Raise more, and play less hands 19 vpip is a little high, and 8 pfr is low especially for a 19 vpip

I have been consciencly (sp?) working on getting my vpip down and my pfr up but i find it really hard to play less hands.

I've also been actively trying to be more positionally aware and steal more. Over the last 10K hands or so my ats is 38%

I think lately I've been calling too many raises with suited connectors and weak broadway hands trying to out flop the guy. I should prob just fold these hands and tighten the fck up o_0

I really don't want to be a 10-8 nit playing 15 tables, is that the only way to win here?

 Holy small blind batman, tighten the fuck up! Look how much you're loosing from that position. Granted, you will be a loser here in the long run, but it should never be this bad. Stop the bleeding! I realize at this level there will be a lot of opportunities to limp behind with good drawing hands. Know what the true value and odds of playing those hands are and don't overplay them, which I have a feeling you're doing.

Also, there's nothing wrong with being a 10/8 nit at 5NL as long as you're actually playing poker instead of being a super weak-tight auto-nit. You will be shocked what these guys call down with. Hit a hand, take them to value town. I doubt you know how to play even 10% of your hands postflop, let alone 18%. Learn to play tight, then start adding hands from the button out.

You can play nitty and win pretty consistently at this level. Although you won't maximize your win rate, you'll lower you variance and, assuming you play half-decently when you do enter pots, you should have more winning sessions than losing. It may seem like people will take advantage of you by pushing you around, and also not pay you off when you have strong hands. But those things require them both to be aware of how you're playing and to adapt accordingly. That just doesn't happen very much; a lot of players really only see their own hands.

I don't even play 38% of my small blinds at 6max. fwiw I also have a 18ish VPIP at full ring. But my PFR is 14.5 so I'm basically just a LAGGY donk. But I'd prefer to see you running 10/9 than 18/9. Seize the initiative as often as possible.

No and yes. KQ is still profitable to raise utg at 5nl. Calling raises with sc's and weak broadway hands and trying to 'out flop' someone is definitely not. Why would you mimic a player you are owning when you're the preflop raiser by playing fit or fold post flop after calling?

You can be a lag at fr, but being someone who is 19/9 is not lag.

thanks for the kick in the pants, i think i need it. I just wish I could get in more volume so i can really focus on some of these things and see results.
well I just got laid off yesterday so I should be able to get some hands in =)

 Post more hands of some of your typical spots....
especially pots where you just called preflop and let the BC disect it. That will help your pre and post flop play.
