This is a situation i'm lost a good amount of the time. So we're up against a player running 40/20 over 5 hands. We have almost no reads since we just opened this table.

$0.02/$0.05 No Limit Holdem
9 Players

Pre-Flop: ($0.07, 9 players) Hero is BTN
p4rt1 says "nh", 4 folds, kb8dain raises to $0.10, coppet_1296 calls $0.10, Hero raises to $0.25, 1 fold, orgy87 raises to $1.25, kb8dain folds, coppet_1296 folds

What do we do here? Folding doesn't seem an option here. ( We have equity, even after his RR.) Do we just call, see a flop. Shove it in when we hit. Or do we RR him no matter what?

 3bet the initial open larger to start. He opens with a minraise, gets a call, and you 3bet to only 5bb, which is less than you should open if they both just limp in. 3bet to $0.40c-$0.50c.

And folding against a cold 4bet, readless doesn't seem like a mistake imo.

What's your equity against AA, KK, AK, and QQ? And I'm being generous against an unknown. Now if he has 10%+ raise steal over 500+ hands, by all means, Jam.

Either fold or jam IMO but I'm folding a ton here without a read. A long time ago I used to say "ZOMG I have AKs, I shove!" but then I got sick of losing money on PF coin flips or hands where I was dominated vs AA/KK.

I have something like 40% Eq against AA-KK-QQ-AKs.

What happend:

orgy87 raises to $1.25, kb8dain folds, coppet_1296 folds, Hero goes all-in $4.93, orgy87 goes all-in $3.55

Flop: ($9.95, 2 players, 2 all-in)

Turn: ($9.95, 2 players, 2 all-in)

River: ($9.95, 2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: $9.95
Hero shows a pair of Fives

orgy87 shows two pair, Jacks and Fives


orgy87 wins $9.37 (net +$4.57)

Hero collects $0.13 (net -$4.80)
kb8dain lost $0.10
coppet_1296 lost $0.10


He called my raise with pp JJ

Make a note that he stacks with JJ in defending his blinds and move on. I am just wondering would he do the same with AQ/AJ.. if so, I'd play it the same again next time.

But yeah, definitely raise more next time.. 3.5x is standard.

 Put your opponent on a goddamn range to start with and consider your equity against that range and you won't have questions about this spot.

There isn't all that much dead money in the pot, plus there's some chance the original bettor and caller have cards that reduce your outs. It also seems likely that you have little or no fold equity, so pushing doesn't look so good when you're well behind, a little behind or tied against your opponent's range. With nothing to go on about the player, I'm usually folding pre-flop.
