PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (4 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

UTG ($6)
Button ($5.57)
Hero (SB) ($5.09)
BB ($2.22)

Villain was 19/12/24

Preflop: Hero is SB with ,
1 fold, Button bets $0.20, Hero calls $0.18, 1 fold

Based on what he'd turned up with previously, and his stats, I had Villain's preflop raising range in that position at 22+,ATs+,KTs+,QTs+,JTs,AJo+,KJo+,QJo. Which my hand has 45% equity against. Does this mean there is an argument to say that folding would have been the best option here?

I thought I'd call here rather than 3bet as I was OOP. Only reason I considered 3betting is because I had 3bet his raise x3 before and he'd folded.

Flop: ($0.45) , , (2 players)
Hero bets $0.25, Button calls $0.25

Here, I hit the flop so I thought I'd lead out. Probably should have been a higher bet. His range here is 77+,ATs+,KTs+,QTs+,JTs,ATo+,KTo+,QTo+,JTo, which I now have 61% equity against. I figure sets are out of the question though, as he probably would have raised me highly there. He is quite aggressive.

Turn: ($0.95) (2 players)
Hero bets $0.70, Button calls $0.70

Bet again as I have no reason to think that this card changed anything, plus I have equity against his range.

River: ($2.35) (2 players)
Hero bets $1.55, Button raises to $4.42 (All-In), Hero folds

Insta-fold for me as I believe he's either hit a flush or a straight.

Total pot: $5.45 | Rake: $0.25

Since it's 4 handed I think a call is ok - as villein likely opens up his button range. Still folding isn't bad in these games.

Flop bet should be more - $0.35-0.45, not sure if he's calling the river enough with hands you beat I might just check fold.

Lol not sure that whether or not one extra person has folded before the action reaches him on the button actually changes his BU opening range since it's essentially exactly the same spot.

Flop Cbet = 100% but with only two opportunities to do so. I.e. it says "100% (2)"

ATS = 24% (17)

if his range is what you put him on for preflop (which i think is a pretty good range for a 19/12 6m'er with a 24% ats), then i'm more inclined to turn my hand into a bluff and 3b, especially because he opened for 4bb's and especially because we're in the SB (though whether or not that's a bad thing depends on reads on BB). the less he folds to 3b's and the more he cbets (but over a larger sample obv), the more inclined i am to turn my hand into a bluff.

as for the flop, i might be ok with the lead, but not for the reason you stated (i hit, so i figured i'd lead). put him on a range and decide how he plays the different parts of his range to a lead vs when we check to him. hint hint, his cbet sample size is too small for us to assume he always cbets. this is actually kinda a cool spot to think about range manipulation

My mistake didn't think that through.

As for leading out vs checking, if he's aggressive then I expect him to react to a lead by raising {77,KK,QQ,AK,KQ,JT} and maybe KJ/KT, calling with most Queens and flush draws (might raise NFD) and fold the rest. If we check he might slowplay some of his monsters by checking back along with 88-JJ, probably cbets all K's Q's and overs that have some kind of gutshot/fd.

I'd go with c/c flop lead turn except if an A/Q falls. Thoughts?

shouldn't you 3 bet as a bluff if you're OOP , because it allows you to lead out a ragged flop?
Im ready this time.

^^^ this is a gross oversimplification of how to play decent broadways OOP when facing a steal

a slightly less oversimplified description would be if villain's opening range is wide enough that we can call profitably without his continuing to a 3b range being wide enough to make a 3b profitable, we should call. if his opening range is wide enough to call profitably, AND he continues to 3b's wide enough to 3b profitably, then we should 3b for value. if his opening range isn't wide enough to call profitably, but he folds to enough 3b's for us to be able to turn our hand into a bluff, we should 3b as a bluff. if his range isn't wide enough to call profitably AND he continues to 3b's too frequently for us to bluff profitably, we should just fold.

that's all kinda ldo material, but you'd be amazed at how this like isn't at all how most micro stakes players don't consider this (it's more like ZOMG AJ I TREE BET!)

does he open 4bb in all positions , does he normally open the button 3bb etc. If he's normaly opening 3bb then this 4bb could be because he got dealt a good pocket pair and wants to get some more value out of it. All helps to put him on a range.
