My question here is about betting the river or not. Im thinking that I missed some value here but I'm also thinking that betting this straight after the terrible river card is a bit thin?
I have no real reads on the villain

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (6 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

saw flop

UTG ($9.36)
MP ($6.10)
Hero (CO) ($16.39)
Button ($17.81)
SB ($11.51)
BB ($4.05)

Preflop: Hero is CO with A, Q
UTG bets $0.20, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.20, 1 fold, SB calls $0.18, BB calls $0.15

Flop: ($0.80) J, K, 5 (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($0.80) 10 (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $0.75, 2 folds, UTG calls $0.75

River: ($2.30) K (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks

Total pot: $2.30 | Rake: $0.10

I thought about betting around half pot, but in the end I checked it back. Is that playing too scared here? And also if I bet and get raised am I calling? Any input would be appreciated!

I'm a beginner myself so I'm not 100% confident with my answer, but I would've bet a bit on the flop. Probably about .30. But for sure I would've checked on the river, in fear of a check/raise.
OP: Beginner to Master

If I bet as a bluff, I should be thinking "am I getting better hands to fold? Is it likely that he will fold x% of the time to a y sized bet to make it +EV?". If I bet for value, I should be thinking "am I getting worst hands to call? Am I ahead of enough of his range that this is a good value bet?".

I'd bet/fold smallish here, you might get a crying call from a king or even a jack if he's bad enough (coz the board paired right, so ur bluffing!).
There's only one system. Bet. Lose. Borrow. Steal. Lose. Take the drugs. Lose. Prison. Death.

you pretty much have the nuts
with the action on the flop/turn, does it LOOK like anyone has a set?

you're only afraid of a flush/KJ/KT
if you're not going to be betting any hand that is not the absolute nuts you're never going to get value

Played fine till the river, bet/fold $1.20, also betting the flop 4 way would be spew, especially if you made a little 0.30c bet.
"This sure beats Super Mario Bros.!" is my ejaculation catch phrase.
