- no reads here
- so we've flatted a pfr and hit our set on the flop. basically, should I be checking to the preflop raiser, or donk betting my set here?
If I had reads on how much the UTG+1 c-bets, it might be an easier decision. basically im trying to get as much money into the pot on the flop as possible, and give bad odds to straight/flush draws. maybe betting here is correct because such draws may be calling, say a pot sized bet?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (9 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

I don't donk often, but this is one of the times I do. He's unlikely to c bet this board too often with air and it really sucks for the flop to go c/c, so many turns are bad plus we'd like to start building the pot asap like you say.

Edit: just saw this was 4 handed. There's no way you can afford this flop to check round.

You must bet....
even if it was hu I would still bet b/c if a card comes that looks like you were going for a straight (like an 8), it will kill the action.

Get going and bet
I confess in quicksand

I agree, gotta bet this one, too many draws out there. So many hands you beat are likely to continue (99,77,JJ+,TP, SD, FD), I doubt you're going to lose value. I'd probably bet near pot.

i am betting at least 40 here, because any less and if 1 or 2 of them calls the other will have more than enough pot odds to chase

Okay, so I guess we're agreed that betting large, preferably pot, is best here.

I hate creating hypothetical situations, but what would be the best line in a less drawy flop, where our main goal is to maximise value and protection worries are secondary (and we still have no reads). say KT6r or T63r. check to the pfraiser or donk bet?

In a multi way pot with less drawy board I still bet about $.30 or so. If no one has anything big, it do you any good to check around imo....if a K is on board then you have to just hope someone has one in the hole and will put some money in...

In a hu pot with a nitty preflop raiser, I love to throw out little donk bets with sets b/c they usually come back over the top with a big raise or shove when the board is all low cards like 7,3,T...
I confess in quicksand

Bet pot as others have said. Don't feel like you lost value if they all fold either be because if you check and they don't have a hand that they thought was good enough to call a raise then they will just check behind. Another problem is you will feel foolish if you check and the turn is a Spade or a 8 or a jack and someone wakes up. Or atleast i would. Those cards are also bad because as vinland said they kill your action even if you are still infront.

Even on a non-drawy board you have to bet this 4 way in my opinion.
