Really nice situation here, flopped the near-nuts, but don't think I really managed to extract the maximum value when my hand held up...

I'm reasonably happy with my play preflop, but I'd be interested to know if anybody can tell me how I might have got a bit more out of the hand...

Going for a check raise on the flop wasn't terrible. So you didn't miss any value there.

I think you may have been able to get your opponent to call your bet on the river though if you'd have raised more on the turn.

I'm not certain, though, whether or not donking out on the flop has more value.

Sometimes your opponents AK misses, and he's just not going to put any more money into the pot. This is one of those cases IMO.
The older I get, the more I start wondering; Just what in the hell is going on here?

I donk flop, unless he has either a narrow 3-bet range, or a big c-bet %.
A lot of times he'll have an overpair and raise.
The strengh of a hero is defined by the weakness of his villains.
