Villain is 50/5 over 42 hands, so meh... The only thing I knew about him was that he was playing a lot of hands, getting to showdown but only with relatively small pots.
No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (8 handed) - Hold'em Manager Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com
MP2 ($1.99)
CO ($2.95)
Button ($2)
SB ($2.24)
BB ($1.51)
Hero (UTG) ($7.94)
UTG+1 ($4.97)
MP1 ($4.99)
Preflop: Hero is UTG with 10 , 10
Hero bets $0.10, 6 folds, BB calls $0.08
Flop: ($0.21) A , 2 , 5 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.20, BB calls $0.20
Turn: ($0.61) Q (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.62, BB calls $0.62
River: ($1.85) 2 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks
Total pot: $1.85
Std check w/given info?
Villain is a complete unknown, 22/11, but only 9 hands. Would 22+, broadways, connectors, & suited gappers be too wide of a range to give him preflop? With that range, I guess I would narrow it to 22,55,77,23,24s,25s,35s,45,56,57s,58s,67,68s,78,89 ,88+?
On the turn, I insta-folded, just because I figured he hit the straight, or 2 pair with too much of his range... Is this a standard fold against an unknown? I would assume so... However obviously I'm here.

2 folds, MP1 (poster) checks, MP2 bets $0.10, Hero calls $0.10, 5 folds
Flop: ($0.25) 2 , 5 , 7 (2 players)
MP2 bets $0.20, Hero calls $0.20

H1 flop is meh. Maybe he has enough fd's and weaker hands to bet for value...idk.
Turn is terrible. You get no value here. People dont like folding top pair hands (especially at 2nl) and the fd's got there. You cant bluff him off whatever he might have, and theres no value in betting.
H2: pre std. flop std. turn im trying to get to sd by any means necessary. I call without giving it much thought at all. Your range is waaaaaaay too wide though, and im pretty sure it stems from some kind of results oriented thinking. Most 2nl players in general are loose passive calling stations, so im hard pressed to give him a range i wouldnt open with myself and i find it even more difficult to beleive that he wouldnt limp these hands most of the time if not just folding them outright.

H1: I was trying to get him off of his air/bottom pair/mid pair/bottom end straight draw hands, which now looking back, I don't see much of in his range. Should it have been a check behind, planning to check/fold the river, or bet 1/2 pot and check behind on river?
H2: Should I be giving him more like 22+, broadways preflop? If so, I can see him trying to bluff overcards on the flop, but not again on the turn? So, say he bets whole range on the flop, for value or bluffing, the only thing I see him firing another on the turn with that we beat would be 88-TT. Pretty small part of this range...

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

Maybe still the wrong way of thinking about it but idk? I know we want worse hands to call, and better hands to fold, but idk...

i think you should only be betting to get worse hands to fold if he like never has beter & you aren't going to get ANY value from a value bet on a future street unless he improves to a better hand then yours, if that makes any sense. Obviously thats not the case in this hand at all though....

If every time you bet, you hope that the worse hands fold and only better hands call, how do you expect to win any money?

Thats not what I hope for, I said in my last post I know we want worse hands to call, and better hands to fold. However, I did what I did with flawed thinking, and I'm pretty sure I just wanted him out of the hand because of my lack of planning, when in fact at this point I should have probably check/folded out of the hand to get out of the dumb position I put myself in. I didn't know where I was in the hand because I didn't put him on a range, or figure out what I wanted to do in the hand. In my mind this is a perfect example of where hand planning is 100% key to play. I am now going to re-read Planning Hands...
This hand went to crap because of my lack of planning and putting opponent on a range!!! Work more on this chit Brandon...
