I always mess up when the game starts to become intresting. Usually because I get a temporary fuckup in my head. I know it's wrong, but don't following what my brain tells me to.
Yesterday I played the PP rebuy tourn where one can win a seat to the one million tour. At 400/800/25 I'm on the button (10 player table) and everyone folds up to me PF. My stack is 20000 (average is 16000). I have 22. Since I want to have a more aggro approach to prevent people from raising to the sky and try to steal, I put in a raise instead of a call. The SB folds, but the BB raises me and I catch on and finally I am all in. I hate it! The guy has 77 and he catches one extra 7 on the river. How would you play 22 under those circumstances.
Would you fold it PF to start with?
Would you just call or what?
I guess you all agree that a fold on the raise from the BB would be right, or?

hmmmm I actually might not raise it there. Its such an obvious steal when its folded to you on the button that I might just limp with that stack size.

With bigger stacks im raising to either steal the blinds or build a pot for me to hit a set in.

With smaller stacks im pushing.

With that stack I think I just limp there (but raise a few seats earlier).

As played you got it allin with the best hand and lost. Its a part of the game.

edit: Also because its such an obvious steal, with AA in the same spot im going to make a bigger than usualy raise and still be reraised by a fairly wide range.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

Would you reraise extra with AA. Even though SB and BB are the only once left? Some people say 3+ x (where x is one extra for every preciding limper).

Also, one thing, I didn't have the best hand. Maybe I was abit fuzzy. BBs pockethand was had 77.

Oh sorry I thought you said you caught the set of 2s on the flop and got allin.

Yea as played its tough because he has such a big reraising range. You dont know if this is a hand he will lay down or not. I think your push after his reraise is very dangerous. I also think his call is pretty bad too but thats just me. The problem with raising 22 is that if you are just called you are going to hate any flop that doesnt have a 2. I think Id rather just limp => set.
Rather perversly an open limp on the button actually looks pretty strong here. It screams "Ive been waiting all night for this AA, please God dont fold".
If he raises you can call and sethunt, or just fold depending on how big the raise is.
This way you get to use your position to potentially steal it when he doesnt like it later aswell.

I think you both massivly overplayed your hands here.

If I have AA on the button here i bump up the raise amount slightly higher than usual because I think the big blind is likely to overplay and reraise a wide range of hands here.

One thing though regarding sethunt with 22. When there only is one hand your up against (since all the other folded). Isn't the estimated hit ratio vs the revard abit bad. 2 outs and lets say I have 3 or maybe 4 cards to come, at best 5 of course. When there are a bunch of folks in there, and I get a cheap flop, ok. Everything looks good, but here? Please, help me motivate my/your play.

yes but you also have position and the chance to take it away when he doesnt like it.

Sprayed is on a distinguished road
When folded to on the button with 22, I raise. Not just because of the pp, but also because I am in position and I have a great chance to steal the blinds. If one of the blinds reraises preflop, easy fold.

I also raise this on the button. Stealing the blinds is good here. If someone calls, I can c bet the flop and win the pot because the other guy probably won't hit. If I'm reraised, like Sprayed said, it's an easy fold.

Thanks alot for your comments.
Just got kicked out of that tournament again, but this time I did good. A maniac bullied the table around and went all in PF over and over again . One time he had J2 unsuited and hit a 2 to 6 straight. He had position on me. A long time in on the tournment I get AJs. I raised + 3 BBs to 400. He went all in and I called. I got a A and J on the table. However, he had KT and a Q showed up also ... straight again for him.

I have to make this stupid tournemnt!!!
