You don't think your flush draw is good ever?
It's certainly good less often,
Also you don't think your straight draw is good ever?
it's also good less often.
You don't think your 9 is good
Even with all the clean/dirty outs, you don't think it's worth it to peel and check/call?

The older I get, the more I start wondering; Just what in the hell is going on here?

I would fold preflop. If not, I'd check behind on the flop for pot control and to see if your draws hit.
As played, I like the Turn bet/fold line.

About that cbet:
Let's say we had a better sample and his stats were in fact 14/6. That means he's limp/calling 8% of hands. So say he's raising AQ+, 99+ or w/e, what's this 8% mostly made up of? Probably broadway hands, PPs, and to a lesser extent, SCs. Is he folding overcards and/or PPs near that often on this flop? Often enough for this to be profitable?

you bought a free turn card. Take it.
Check turn behind - you have a small-pot hand and so many draws hit
