ok so toay im playing 1-2 nl at some crappy casino in WI.
I get dealt the power of 5 -2 in the BB and check a 4-way pot
flop comes
5 2 8
With 3 behind i decide to check and se what unfolds pot is 9 dollars (2+2+2+1+2)
Laggy but solid texan (hat and all) fires 10 and 2 folds back to me
Heres my analasys.
He cold have a large club j + Top pair with an A or a conector (this guy isnt reall playing K8 Q8.....Im 90% he dosent have a made fluh for 2 reaons
1. He raises sooted cards he plays pf
2. He slowplays big flops
I consider raising but i only have 80 behind so i call to see a turn.
8 wow it pretty much the single worst card in the deck for me
Board is 5 2 8 8
I decide i cant check as he will bet any 2 in that spot and probly bet big (pot or larger) so i fire 16, he raises to 35... hero??
(do you check here givin my reads and analasys? bet more et less or as played?)

How deep is the money?
Turn is an easy Check/fold.

I'm definitely leading out on the flop or check raising here. If you think he might have a big club why are you letting him see a cheap turn? once the turn comes I wouldn't be putting anymore money in.

Because i have 80 beind, i i c/r the flop im commited no matter what comes on he turn
As far as leading i have player behind e an i cant realy stand a large raise, if i do, again im commited on the turn.
I diddnt checking as an option as i felt he would bet any 2 if i did, this way if he raiesim 99% sure im beat. If he calls then i can saly put him on a club.
no e cnt have a set, i stated b4 he had been lowplaying big flops.

That's why I'm leading out instead of c/c, if there's a big raise behind you, I'd be happy to get it all in there at a 1/2 live game, there's so many hands they're calling with that you beat. That's just how i'm playing it so i don;t have a tougher decision on the turn.

Yeah, i mean i undrstand the arguement, the post you quoed was more of an explnation for wyi led the turn, not why i checked the flop.
I suppose after some poker stove, this is in fact, the correct mathmatical line. Its just pure ev. Unfortunatly i guess i out thouht myelf and tryed to take a "safer" route.
Any of you ever fall into that? Playing a ittle more passivly from OOP when there are potential big draws agist you hand?

It doesn't matter, your hand went to crap you're out of position and it's not a very big pot. Betting the turn gets called by a lot of hands that have you drawing pretty much dead (as well as weak draws) as he probaby will wait for the river if he thinks he has a lock.
