I've got a question about the way the author of FTR played his hand that's referenced in the subject. He hit trip Jacks on the flop and made a very callable bet. The board showed 2 clubs. Shouldn't he have been afraid that the guy was chasing a flush?

I know that with my luck, if I made a small bet like that, the guy will call and a third club will come down. Then when he goes all in, I'll have to think about folding. Would taking it down on the flop be a bad move?

Afraid? no - he should hope that he's chasing something. A flush is the most dangerous, but any draw will do. 2 times out of 3 he'll miss, and even when he hits, sometimes the author will fill up and take all his money.

It's hard to be disciplined and fold when you think someone drew out on you, but that doesn't mean you should chase every drawing hand out of every pot when you're strong. Getting people to call bets with worse hands makes you money, as long as you're smart enough to fold when you have to. Here he bet about 2/3 of the pot; that's a good bet that gives a flush draw not great pot odds, but which most chasers will definitely call.
