Alright guys. I'm fed the f!@# up with 6max. The high variance, the high rake, the low-to-nonexistant profit.

Are there still decent enough full ring games going? I know party's are completely rockish (which doesn't mean they aren't profitable), but are there places where the games are still good and loose? Care to share where they are? (You can PM me if you don't want to say it here )

Are people still playing and making money at full ring? I have to assume they are -- its just a matter of finding the good games.

Help?

I still just play at party(it's better than Stars or Pokerroom). You might be able to find a smaller site with better games, but I doubt it. WorldPokerExchange is an interesting option. I have about 10K hands in there and I actually have lost a little money there overall since I started playing(not counting the rakeback), but the sheer amount of rake I get back after 3-tabling 5 hours a day is enough that my overall profit has been higher than at party. If you don't mind crappy software, few players, only being able to 3-table, and playing against almost entirely players as good as me, then I'd recommend WPEX(the rake thing really is just almost that important). Just make sure you play 5/10 or higher(I really don't wanna have to deal with another well above average player at my 3/6 tables )

What range of stakes are you looking to play, and what win rate are you aiming / willing to settle for?

You won't be immune, by the way, to variance at full ring games. I recently had a day that was so horrible I thought about posting a thread on it. FR, Party, and in five hours I dropped 65 BB despite my usual solid, tight, and occasionally brilliant play. This was the worst session I had ever played, and after a pleasant hour break, I thought, well, I can't let this sort of thing scare me, so I put in another five hours, and lost another 65 BB. The player with a VPIP of 90% (that's *ninety* precent) broke even over 300 hands, and the big, big winner had a VPIP of 70%. These were the kinds of sessions where I raised mp w AA, opp behind me cold calls w 86 offsuit, the big blind completes w 32 offsuit, and they both beat me.

Might be it's not as bad as at 6 max, but there variance at FR can be substantial (and painful) too.

Well, its hard for me to answer your post arki.

I'd like to play any range from $2/$4 to $10/$20 where my profit is the maximum. If I make more 8 tabling 2/4 than 2 tabling 10/20, I'll take the 8 tabling. If I make the same 8 tabling 2/4 as I dunno 5 tabling 3/6, I don't particularly care which I play. Probably side toward lower table numbers, as its less hectic.

I dont care about my winrate for the same reasons. A positive winrate is a good winrate. I'd be perfectly happy making 0.25bb/100 at the UB 300/600 game

Alright, time for some stream-of-conscience posting...
ok I played a few hours of $3/$6 full today. Hovered around 4 tables, sometimes 5 but since I'm on the laptop that got a little hellish. Four seems reasonable for a while. I kicked ass at it too -- whether I was running hot or playing superbly (or a little of both), I made 3.78/100 over 1700 hands for $392. Not too shabby.

Can I keep that winrate up? Possibly. Doubt it, but it does give me reasonable hope that I can beat the game for somwhere between 1.5 or 2 bets/100.

If we do ~80 hands/hour at one table, we do 320hands/hour at four tables. 1.5bb/100 over 320 hands = 4.8 bets, and 4.8bets/hour = $28.80/hour. That is about perfect for what I want to make, and it seems reasonable to do.

Throw in rakeback (not sure how much that comes out to per hour...) and we're doing alright.

Looks like $3/$6 at 1.5bb/100 is my base goal.

I should add that I'm really aiming for just pure pounding of the tables over the next two months. No school until august, I'm staying at my parents so I'm not paying for food, gas, etc. I have no bills. I'm also in the middle of fucking nowhere and have no problems playing 8 hours a day. Nothing else to do.
