The rake schedule for 1/2 has the same horrible structure as the .5/1 game.

Where are the juiciest rakes for .5/1 and 1/2?

Das tut mir lied...

If party 1/2 has a sucky rake, what are some other sites to check out that might be better at these limits?

In addition, how does this slightly smaller rake compare against the effect of tougher competition that might be on those sites? (maybe not of consequence for micro limits?)

Just play 2/4. It's a great game.

The 2/4 games aren't much (if at all) tougher. Some will argue that 2/4 is softer as a lot of .5/1 graduates waste time playing 1/2. Throw in a better rake structure and now I'm 100% certain that the Party 1/2 game is a waste of time.

Thanks, Fnord. I want to play 20k hands of .5/1 and 1/2 to have a better feel for whether I have it down. Then I will probably go to 2/4.

Albeit, your note served as a good reminder. I have heard that the rake sucks at Party at these levels, but I was playing so poorly that I wanted to stay low while I work out some issues.

Just lately, I have plugged a bunch of leaks, thanks to you, Fnord, as well as Jeff, Hyper and others.

fnord, thanks for the tip! i especially agree with your observation that the $1/$2 is full of graduates from $0.50/$1. i notice a ton of tricky checkraising and slowplaying at this limit on PP, just as i did when i moved up from $0.25/$0.50 to $0.50/$1 at UB. this behavior does not occur at the next level up at UB ($1/$2). i am encouraged to hear that the same holds true for PP. i definitely have the bankroll to play $2/$4 but i was planning to spend some more time at $1/$2 before moving up. now i see that would be a terrible waste. $2/$4, here i come!!

Its been awhile since I played the Party 1/2 full, but I would recommend you take on the 6-max game instead. I played through the 1/2 full and it was a total rock garden, then went back and did the 6-max in preparation for the 5/10. If I had to do it again, I would play 6-max for my 1/2 instead, and I think the games will be good. Plus it should get you used to the relative hand values of short handed play.

1/2 Full is nothing like a Rock garden..... 1/2 6 max is like a crap shoot. Learning 6 max at Stars is the best thing to do. Their players actually 'resemble' a clue.
