Here I am donking the turn from early position. I'd only played a couple of orbits, but I had a note on MP1 that he continued to raise AA when there was a 4 card straight on the board. So I figured if he had an overpair, he'd pay me off on the turn. Which he did.

Hero checks, MP1 bets, MP3 calls, Button raises, Hero calls, MP1 calls, MP3 calls

Turn: (11.2 BB) 4 (4 players)
Hero bets, MP1 raises, MP3 calls, 1 fold, Hero 3-bets, MP1 calls, MP3 calls

River: (20.2 BB) J (3 players)

Results below:
Hero had 5, 5 (three of a kind, fives).
MP1 had 9, 9 (one pair, nines).

why are we not b/3b'ing this flop? we have hella equity, an overpair overplaying read on villain, and a fd out there along with a small chance of a straight draw, too. if the draw completes on the turn, we will get hella action with a 10 out redraw. no one is going to fold this flop to our lead, and its very likely that in a 3bet pf hand, someone will overplay JJ+.
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

I suspected that if I led the turn rather than on the flop, I would actually play into the villain's tendency to overplay his hands. I want him speeding up, not slowing down, when the bets get bigger. In retrospect, I might squeeze a bit more out of this hand by being aggressive on the flop (I would prefer a check-raise to a b/3b, but OK), but what I ask myself in this spot is "how can I get the villain to spew as many chips my way on the turn and river where the bets are bigger?", because if I can do that, I really don't care how many chips go in on the flop.
