In a 10-max limit game, i tend to sit down with half the max buy-in. As you know, doing this in NL gives you a certain (misplaced) sense of security as you "can't lose more than that". However you can go on tilt and buy-in again and lose that too, or just plain minimize your winnings.

Now, with limit i see it differently. Being a NL player until a couple of weeks ago, i still get that sense of security (although it's pointless, since you can't go all-in anyway), and as long as i keep what i have at 12BBs (that means rebuying if i go under, not playing tight passive so as not to go down to 12BB if i lose a hand) i'm not minimizing my winnings.

I know it might sound stupid to still want that sense of security even though i know it's not warranted, but if it helps the brain...i'm with it.

So...have i missed anything or is this ok?[/quote]

Like you said, you are potentially minimizing your winnings if you buy-in for less than the maximum. If you need the security of buying in for less than the table maximum then you are likely playing over your head and with scared money.

Some people buy in for 50bb, others 25bb. It really doesn't matter which of those you choose, but 12bb is definitely NOT enough.

do you round it or do you include the cents? Also, is 5 a round up or down for you?

That's an easy round up, unless you're a nit.

You guys are way too weak-tight with your rounding.
