1 fold, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds, MP2 calls, 1 fold, Hero calls, Button calls, 1 fold, BB checks.

Flop: (5.40 SB) K, A, 3 (5 players)
BB checks, UTG+1 checks, MP2 checks, Hero checks, Button bets, BB folds, UTG+1 folds, MP2 folds, Hero folds.

Final Pot: 3.20 BB

Too timid? It's a button steal bet for chrissake? I realize this is a donkish question, but I always feel out of my element in this situation.

I also have a really hard time with Underpairs on boards like

K88 when I have a pair of 5s. I'm extremely timid. Good bad?
The older I get, the more I start wondering; Just what in the hell is going on here?

Question 1: What were you looking to flop?
Question 2: Did you flop it?
Question 3: what do we do when we do not flop anything with speculative PF hands?

Raise cuz it's the only way we can win the pot?

Thanks big. Sometimes I need to be reminded of the stupid stuff.

5 PLAYERS to the flop, trust us when someone has a A or K here...it may be a button bet, but even if the button is WAY outta line, if there is even 1 other caller at that table we are down to 2 outs - flop or drop is pretty standard here...Unless you can get heads up preflop, you know someone is limping Ax or Kx....just let it go and move on

it feels timid, and I hate to play like im being timid - but theres a big difference between stupid "bravery" and smart poker -

ChezJ is an unknown quantity at this point
pot is 3.2 bb. ask yourself if you are really willing to pay 2.5 bb (0.5 now, 1 on the turn, 1 on the river) just to find out if your crap hand is good. (catching your set would be worthless in terms of payoff.) even if button has nothing but JT, he could catch up to you in the next two cards.

fold and move on. it's called playing tight, not timid.
