Hey, I know most of you probably didnt have to spend much, if any, time at microstakes. I was looking for a winrate over a reasonable amount of hands for .5/1 and below... My question is an attempt to plot how quickly a player knowing nothing could move up to about the 1/2 - 2/4 level. Any data would be much appreciated..
Thanks =)

Not including any bonus clering (which you should definately be doing at this low of stakes to make playing worth your time, and to help boost your roll to get to higher stakes) Im currently clearing 2.58 bb/100 hands. Thats over a smaller sample size (10,000) hands.

all numbers below are for 100k+ hands 10k hands can give u a decent idea however every 10k hands will probably change and your play changes over time, the numbers assume that you played all your hands with the same strategic ideas.
0.5bb/100 you need to do more work towards your game
1bb/100 you're not doing to bad
1.5bb/100 is about right from what i can tell given games in general are not as loose and such as they once were, however using proper game selection you can easily find extremely loose games.
2.0bb-2.5bb/100 you are kicking the shit out of the game.
3.0bb/100 and up is prob unsubstantial in the long run...
A side BR note:
at any forum of limit poker you figure to have a Std Dev (can be found in Poker Tracker: session notes -> more detail) say your Std Dev. is 1bb/100 hands you can then figure to swing up to 3 SDs from that number per 100 hands, thus you can swing 3bb/100 max up and down, thus the higher the SD number you have the bigger BR you effectively need in the next level...
but a standard rule of thumb would be 300bb for FR and 500bb for 6m... though if you are trying to make a living off poker obviously your br would be a lot larger for a given level.

I wouldn't focus too much on planning your rise into the real money. Focus on your gameplay and ignore the actual monetary value of your chips. The game is too stressful if you are on some kind of schedule, and no fun after awhile. I imagine there are many people here who can give examples.
Once you are playing well at whatever level you are currently at, you will find yourself moving up to the next level fairly quickly (and feeling like a noob again). But expect to spend months in the micros treading water and learning from your mistakes.
Most bonuses are not an issue or possible to clear until you are playing at .25-.5 stakes at a minimum, at least in limit games. I wouldn't sign up for any bonuses until you reach that level, because you will just fail to clear them (so play at Stars or somewhere that doesn't do much in the way of bonuses). Once you hit that level then not bonushunting is leaving money on the table. Ditto rakeback (as I am currently learning at .25-.5 and .5-1, though I suspect it is much more significant higher up).
