...like whenever I'm heads up against another player with something like AK or AQ, THEY always manage to catch a pair (or 2)? This happens both live and online.

I just had a hand like that. I had AKs on the button with 1 limper. Raise and the blinds fold out so it's just me and the other person. Flop comes 982r. Checked to me so I bet and get called. turn: blank. Check-bet-call. river: blank check-check the guy shows J8 for a pair of 8's.

Or yesterday playing live I raised in a 6 handed game with AJ and the guy called out of the blind. Flop comes Q64. Checked to me so I bet out and get called. Turn comes an A, so I figure whatever he's got isn't good, so I bet again and get raised. UGH! River is a blank and I call down and he shows Q4o. Flopped 2 pr.

Maybe this doesn't happen as much as I think but it really does seem like it. (not that I necessarily mind, as I'd take AJ vs Q4 all the time)

It's always gonna sting a little bit more when you play the role of aggressor and some passive chump rakes a pot that you thought you were good in after he flopped a crappy 2 pair and didn't want to bet it.

They are losing money in the long run, so it's an occupational hazard that you have to deal with these types.

Both of ya are correct. Even against AJ, Q4 is only about a 60-40 underdog, so over the long run I'm making out profitably.
