I'm a winning NL player (some of you guys know me from that area of the forum) and a losing limit player. I'm looking to move over to limit, and I want some advice on where to start.
I'm not bonus whoring or anything, and I'm a solid NL multi-tabler (I 9-table). I want to play six-max, because I play a pretty aggressive limit game and I think 6-max helps cover some of my flaws.
Basically I want to know what site you would play (If there's nothing wrong with party, I'll play there) and what stakes you would start at.
Like I said, I'm probably a loser (I haven't actually logged that many hands, but I think overall in 3K hands or so I'm a slight loser), but I haven't played much limit in the past year, and my NL game has improved drastically in that time. My bankroll can support limits pretty high (10/20), but I don't even dream of starting there.
Is there anything wrong with party 6-max .5/1 as a starter? Anything you think is better? Any other advice?

I would say if you are a loser in limit, I would definately start at .5/1 and just keep moving up as soon as are confident that you are soundly beating whatever limit you are on until you get to 3/6 where it starts getting a bit tougher and then I'd stay there until you have made sure you are a winning player over at least 20,000 hands or so before moving up to 5/10 where it gets quite a bit tougher. If you are that good at multitabling, it shouldn't take you too long to get up to decent stakes if you play very often at all. I assume you have pokertracker, but if you don't, you will definately wanna make sure you get it for playing limit. Other than that, just post a lot of hand histories here and you'll be a winning limit player in no time.

I do have poker tracker, yes.
I couldn't wait for responses, and got started today.
I played 2.5 hours, 1400 hands and ran and 6BB/100. Whee! I can't wait for the subsequent downswing...
I 9-tabled for 1000 of the 1400 hands, so I either ran damn well or my play didn't suffer. I was a little bit busier than I normally am in NL because decisions take me a little longer and also I play more hands (plus I used to play NL ring, not 6max). So I'm happy for now. I'll be whining in a day or two.
I did get 3-outed twice for a freakin' huge pot both times (ATx flop, I have AK, they spike a K and showdown JQ). Same hand both times. That woulda been another 25BB or so...

What influenced your decision to move to limit? I am just curious because I have always been a limit player with the exception of NL tournaments or SNG's.

I've always thought I would probably be a better limit player. I think it suits my personality better.
Today it was spurred by my second worst day of poker ever (yesterday), which was a pretty big hit when I needed it the least.

starting out I don't think I would play 6max till you have a solid grasp of LIMIT fundamentals, not saying you don't have some idea, but Limit and NL are like night and day when it comes right down to it...
I don't think 6max is that good a place to start but I guess you COULD...

I started limit playing 6-max and while I lost many more BBs learning the game than I would have if I was playing full ring, I also learned the game much faster than I would have if I had started in full ring.
And since I started at .25/.50 6-max (it was a non-party site) the many BBs I lost translated into not all that much money. So starting in 6-max was worth it for me.
So if you don't mind banking a fairly big loss (in BBs) I'd recommend starting at 6-max for the same reason I did (learning limit faster). And with lots of NL experience behind you, you already understand all the general poker fundamentals, so learning the specifics of limit should come to you even more quickly.

Depends what No limit games you played. A solid mid stakes(100-400) NL player should have no problem beating at least 2/4 limit games.
If you nut peddled 25NL full ring you might want to start lower.
