I've been playing some home games and have come across a player that I can't seem to beat.
He raises on every pair he has, and makes it to the river nearly 90% of all the pots. He does not play on position nor respect the raise.
But he seems so lucky, because he can get a flush, straight, double pair almost 75% of the time on the River.
I'vebeen playing tight, position play with raises only on premium hands. But because this is shorthanded game, my blinds diminish my pile before i can get my hands on a good hand.
Another problem is once I raise, either on flop or turn, they always seem to fold so fast, knowing I'm playing my premium hand.
Help!!!

Just because a strategy isn't working, doesn't mean you need to change horses mid-stream.
That having been said. Short handed games are a whole new monster. Requiring more aggression, less drawing hands, and better reading ability.
Q1 How many players are playing?
2-3 players, you can see the flop with just about any 2, even against a raise, AND you should be willing to raise with a very large number of hands. Any Ace, just about any king, and quite a few Queens, and Jacks. It's also correct to play premium hands passively early, because they are so strong at this point.
4-5 players. You're still being more aggressive than normal, playing a wider range of hands. Any ace is still probably good for a raise, but slow down with any king, and try to keep queens and jacks in the wheelhouse. Again, Still correct to slow-play Aces, Kings, and even Queens here. But also correct to raise with them. You have to decide which is MORE correct.
It should be noted that weak, speculative hands such as 22, 33, 44, 55 and low connectors are much weaker, than you would normally give them credit... because you can't get the volume out of them you need for winning.
6 players needs to go to a tight, aggressive game as explained in our 6max table guides.
It sounds like this is amazingly fishy Loose Passive player. These guys get lucky. You just get a good hand. (say a pair of jacks or better) and then bet into him all the way down.
He's seeing, and paying off waaaaaay too many rivers ever make any money. He's just being very lucky, don't worry it'll all catch up to him.
But in this situation, the problems is more likely your own style of play (being too tight pre-flop and not aggressive enough for short handed games) and less likely his luck.
