OK, I've read SSHE and HEFAP and am thinking of giving this limit HE thing a go. I play SnGs pretty much exclusively and, particularly for the turbos/speeds, worry that they don't really help develop post-flop skills (in the later stages many hands are just involve shoving or not shoving preflop or on the flop).
I've got a BR of about $500 so according to the 300 BB rule I should be rolled for the $0.50/$1.00 games but given I've never played limit before, I want to make sure that I can beat the game I pick. $0.02/$0.04 seems like a bit too low, what's a good level that would suit a limit newbie?

If you can really dedicate $500 to the game, .5/1 is a decent place to start.
I played 10k hands at .01/.02 before I started getting serious though.

Buy pt then play 5c/10c with the 450 that you'll have left over.

25c/50c isn't too bad. That's where I started with $100.

Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

Thanks everybody for the replies, I've already got PT (use it to track my SnG play). Since I don't want to commit my whole roll to limit (I will most probably suck at it for the first little while) and I need to keep some to play SnGs, I'll probably have a go at 10c/20c to start off.

I was you I might start at .25/.50, but .10/.20 is fine. Do what you're comfortable with, and if you're regularly beating a given level (for, say, 3 big bets per 100 hands played) AND you're bankroll is sufficient, it's likely fine to move up. Good luck!

When I was looking at the party games, every full ring level was rock. ass. tight. Even .5/1.
