limit holdem i played tonight adn i think i played well, i played 10/20 with kill, its the only game in town, kind of an underground thing

bought in for 200$, took some brutal beats and busted out after a few hours of play, 1st hand i have 33, flop 3 10 J some dude raises so i call, turn is a 2, he raises again, another dude calls i reraise , he calls other dude folds river is an ace, he raises i call, he shows KQ for the straight

i win a few hands

then pick up AA
i rasie, 4 callers
flop K 2 2 (2) diamonds i raise i get reraised, and a cold caller i call,
turn 6 no diamond, i raise he reraiss cold call again, i call and see a diamond fall on river, th cold caller lady wins it

i pick up JJ riase preflop 6 callers
flop is 9 4 2 rainbowi raise and get reraised, so i reraise it gets capped, with 2 others in it, turn is a 6 i raise 2 callers river is a 3 dude raises i call and chick calls, he shows 10 10, i show JJ she shows 9 3 for 2 pair on river

next hand is a kill pot i pick up AQ suited spades , i raise preflop to 40$ 4 callers for a raise in kill pot flop is Q 4 2 with 2 hearts
i raise get reraised so i reraise all the rest of my chips this puts him all in he shows K 10 hearts turn 2
river K, he caught his king and i am left with 10$

i go all in next hand with 66 caught a 6 on river to make full house and battled back up to 100$ then lost it all all in preflop in a kill pot with AK suited vs KQ and Q4
flop Q 5 2, turn 4 river 5
and KQ wins it and i am toast

what a joke

is this game beatable with this many chasers, everytime i raise i get called by 4 or 5 people, and inevitable they hit 2 pair or multiple people drawing. they play anything suited or and 2 cards that can make a straight, 74 offsuit is playable for them

You should be sitting down with at least $400 in chips to play that game and never be in a position to go all-in (keep another few hundred in cash ready to toss onto the table.) Bankroll of at least $6000 and expect the occasional swing of at least -$2000.

Limit is EXTREMELY profitable in the long run. I've made over half of my long-term profit playing it. But the swings are a bitch.

$6000!! Holy crap!! Maybe I'm not the gambler I thought I was. Maybe it's because I'll have a baby to take care of in the next few weeks. But that's a lot of bank to keep as discretionary income.

More power to all you whales. :P

For what it's worth, that's why I don't play at that level (although my game is probably good enough.) 10-20k+ bankrolls are pretty common...

yeah well i was being staked, it was kind of a trial run. he wanted to see if i was any good, kinda let him, down i was up 200 fora bit but then it came crashing down. he lost 1000 in about an hour, and i finally lost the 200 over about 3 or 4 hours. i still feels shitty tho. this was only my 2nd time playing limit live, and i have only playedd a few times online, these people like to see every flop and chase chase chase

any tips on this, also can anyone point me to good starting hands for limit?

thanks

Small Stakes Hold'em by Ed Miller + S&M.

Play some Party .5/1 (about 10k hands.) You'll learn how to deal with those bozos and perhaps even begin to appreciate the kind of swings to expect. B&M 2/4 - 4/8 (no kill) works too.
