Well no kidding. K3? Unless you have an extremely specific reason, cold calling with K3 offsuit is a short route to an empty bankroll. Sure, once in a billion years you hit trips, but mostly you are just donating money.

ABSOLUTELY FALSE in 6-max, when SB raising. When SB open raises (unless he's got the tightest stats in history), call almost any two or you'll get run over.
Hand #1: Standard. Nothing you can do
Hand #2: Standard, until you get RE-POPPED on turn. Call down! You turned your hand face-up... and he still kept firing.
PS: Experiment w/ reraising pre w/ K-high in that spot (and definitely any Ace). If you plan on moving up limits, you'll get pummled if you play it too passively Blind Vs. Blind.

5/10 is not my game, so this is not rhetorical... should he not have bet the flop?

lol, sorry about these posts, I didn't mean for them to be public discourse. I posted it for a buddy who wanted to know what happened. Anyhow, I'll defend my plays. First off, the A7 hand is obviously nothing special. Pretty standard hand. I could have folded to the turn check raise, but my opponent is semibluffing there often enough for me to call him down. If he were a bit more passive, I could easily have found a fold.
The second hand was however very straight forward. The opponent in the small blind is beyond maniacal. He raises 80 some % of his hands HU in the sb. I had been mixing up my play with him in the BB between 3 betting him with any A or K and just calling him and raising any flop. The problem though, is that he just starts jamming right back. In a hand previous to this, I had 3 bet him pre with AQ, the flop came A36, and he capped it out with me the whole way with J8o. The turn was a Q, and I took him for max bet on every street. So... when I had K3 on a 338Q board, I gave no consideration to passive play. His range is so wide open here, that capping with my K3 is absolutely optimal play. If he were an average thinking player, then I'm OBVIOUSLY slowing down after the turn 3bet. Well... maybe. K3 on that board HU vs a maniacal opponent, hell even vs a solid opponent is an EXTREMELY STRONG holding blind vs blind. Vs this opponent however, I'd have probably put in 7 or 8 raises in Vegas at a live table before I decided to just call... that's how bad he was. I even remember thinking, "poor guy probably hit a 3".

Yes. Name your stake. 5k min hands, HU. The A7 call on the turn is bad. The whole K3 hand is flat out terrible.

If you fold A on turn HU here, THAT'S bad!
K3, yes... he put in too much action, but his description of oppnt. is WAAAYYY more important than our opinion, when we weren't there!

1) I think folding the weak Ace on the turn is close, and I would probably fold it against a random opponent, but not against one who I thought capable of making a silly bluff. He could possibly have QJ but it would be odd for him to semibluff that because he's OOP and could get 3bet by a lot of hands. Given that he limped, c/c'd the flop and c/r'd the turn, I'd expect to see JT here fairly often.
2) Vs. maniac who caps air, I'm capping every street on this.
