Not much to go on, figure kind of typical semi-loose passive.

PokerStars 3/6 Hold'em (6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Fnord is Button with J, 9.
UTG calls, 1 fold, CO calls, Fnord calls, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (5 SB) 4, A, 9 (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, CO bets, Fnord raises, SB folds, BB calls, UTG folds, CO calls.

Turn: (5.50 BB) 2 (3 players)
BB bets, CO folds, Fnord raises, BB calls.

River: (9.50 BB) A (2 players)
BB bets, Fnord calls.

Final Pot: 11.50 BB

I'd say spewage on all streets. J9 should at least be suited to play here, the flop raise is marginal but as soon as BB calls two it should ring bells and whistles in your head. The turn was not a scare card to anyone so BB has to at least have an Ace and you could find a fold here as the pot is rather small.

by the time the river came you might as well call as the likelihood of him having an Ace decreases but obviously he knows you don't have an Ace as he wouldn't bet otherwise.
