PokerStars 0.50/1.00 Hold'em (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)
Preflop: Hero is Button with K , A .
3 folds, Hero raises, SB 3-bets, 1 fold, Hero caps, SB calls.
Flop: (9 SB) 5 , A , 4 (2 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.
Turn: (5.50 BB) 3 (2 players)
SB bets, Hero raises, SB calls.
River: (9.50 BB) J (2 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.
Final Pot: 11.50 BB
Villian is 48/17 over about 100 hands, other than that I don't know much about him. It seemed like he improved on the river since he didn't 3-bet the turn, but led out on the river. I don't think the range of hands I have him on justifies a reraise, (by the river I'm thinking AT+ or so, with a lot of weight for AJ), but the pot odds make it seem like I can't fold. Any help?

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

You are right you can't fold. That would be a horrible mistake. I think you played the whole hand just right. He may have just called the turn to try to get you to raise the river for a 3-bet.

He may have improved to just one pair of jacks (KJ or QJ for example). Even so I think it's a lot more likely he has a hand that beats you often enough that I'd just call too. Even an uber-lag won't usually try to pull this line with an ace on board and a pair less than an ace, and this guy is far from an uber-lag. He might try it with a weaker Ax but I don't think often enough to make raising worthwhile.
