My opponent is sTAgg, solid and reads hands. A little too loose pre-draw, but that's probably a correct adjustment for this game. Certainly a big winner in this game. We've been mixing it up a little, I've been a little on the cold side when we showed down, but I've taken a couple pots from him recently including a pat 3-bet bluff.

Of course he could have trips. Regardless, I think you should've just drawn 1 and bet. All standing pat really does is overrepresent your hand and tighten his calling standards unless you routinely make crazy pat bluffs, but rarely draw one when bluffing (which is probably inconsistent with basic strategy).

The one benefit I can think of in standing pat is that it will prevent him from raising with trips, but I think you should be able to fold to a raise anyways after drawing one and betting in this situation.

Benefits of going Pat:
He might look me up with one pair.
He will often draw 2 to trips being the predictable little bot he is. If that's the case, I can consider a check/fold or try to push him off of it.
It establishes an action image on the cheap.
