Again, a hand where I might have been too aggressive for too long after taking the lead.
BB was running 33/8/1.5 (194). The one read I had that was relevant to this hand - I hadn't seen him trap either pre or postflop. I figured the times I was beat by a 10 (or he did decide to trap w/ a big hand given my aggression factor) would be made up by the pps he held and would call a river bet with. Given my reads, I certainly didn't take him for AA, KK, JJ, or a Q (given the preflop flat call, the c/c turn, and c river)
Should I have checked behind here on the river?

Pretty hard to get called by a worse hand on the river. I check behind.

yeah the problem is that when he has 9x you chop, when he has 10x/overpair you lose a bet

If I was a betting man, I'd say you're up against J10 or AK. Anything better raises you on the river.

It was A10 for the better boat.
I am working on toning down the river aggression. Probably my biggest leak.

Some villains will call with any pocket pair on that board, so I don't think it's a terrible bet at all.

Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

I added to my notes (in shorthand to save space) that he was afraid of a preflop raiser out of position with a question mark added. It's my indication that he won't (question mark since it's the first time I saw it) lead or raise w/ hands that are beaten by premium holdings when oop, but will c/c down w/ good but not great hands.

maybe this is where i am wrong. but, i would have noted...
"wont raise for thin value on safeish rivers"
meaning...when he raises me in the future, take it seriously.
