Still on the downswing. Close to 5 months now. 17 45min sessions in the last 3 days. 2 winning sessions. Don't get starters. When I do get starters don't hit the flop. When I do hit the flop I get beat (once yesterday and twice so far today I've hit flushes only to loose by one card (and not the ace)).
Stats from my sessions this morning:
During current Hold'em session you were dealt 154 hands and saw flop:
- 13 out of 17 times while in big blind (76%)
- 4 out of 18 times while in small blind (22%)
- 15 out of 119 times in other positions (12%)
- a total of 32 out of 154 (20%)
Pots won at showdown - 2 of 6 (33%)
I'm playing the way I'm supposed to be playing. I'm doing all the right things I read here and other places. And I keep loosing. Hand after hand, session after session, day after day.
Somehow, someway .... this has got to stop!

Playing in 45 minute sessions is a little dangerous, no?

Just seems to me like you have a better chance of winning if you have time to relax and get a feel for the table. How many hands can you possibly see in 45 minutes? Not that many overall. I would think it's better to be able to play for 2-3 hours maybe so you get a feel for players and just plain see more hands.
That's just me though...I play on short time tables like that sometimes and every now and then I win a little, but not very often.

Ya know, that makes sense. And at this point I'm pretty much willing to try anything. Already tried switching games, rooms, took a break, read poker articles all over the net, read inspirational matierial, went to church ... was even gonna try voodoo but couldn't find a durn chicken.
So playing longer sessions it is. I'll let ya'll know how it turns out.

longer sessions is a good idea for B&M tables but not as good for online. Many times in say an hour 5 or 6 of your 9 competitors may have changed online. couldnt hurt though.
Also try switching places you play at. Try a different site, even if just for a week or two. I know this seems rediculous but it has worked for me in the past. Gets your mind off of your current loosing streak and onto the new interface and new players. You kind of get exciting again about playing and seem to forget about the downswing. Cant hurt to try it!

That is a good point. What site and limits are you playing?
For example, UB's .5/1 game is the toughest limit game i have ever seen. Switching venue may help you out while you are still learning.

To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

154 hands = 1 hour of play this is no where near enough to get an accurate sample...

in my personal experience, 45 minutes is about the average amount of time i spend folding at an online table before the cards start coming my way. so it is very possible that you are exiting your tables right at the moment when your seat is about to get hot. i don't mean this in a superstitious way. i'm just saying you have to play a lot more hands in one session in order to get a full mix of good and bad starting hands. i have sat there folding hands for 4-5 full orbits (an entire hour) then suddenly caught a wave of AK's and AQ's that all hit the flop. the laws of chance just work like that. other times, i've sat down and caught KK on the first hand and flopped a set, then hit 3-4 more monsters in the next 15 minutes, then lost it all in the following 2 hours as my cards went stone cold. again, this is not an aberration, it is to be expected. but you are not going to experience much of this if you limit yourself to 45 minute sessions. i know they add up statistically to one long session, but somehow i think you are doing the equivalent of "buying high and selling low" in the stock market rather than "buy and hold."
