MP3 is new to me, a bit loose (28vpip) but I only have about 30 hands to it's pretty meaningless. SB is tight and passive and I've played him a lot (that's why I made a point of sitting to his right).
Preflop: Hero is CO with A , 9 .
UTG calls, 1 fold, MP1 calls, 1 fold, MP3 calls, Hero calls, Button calls, SB completes, BB checks.
Flop: (7 SB) 4 , 7 , 6 (7 players)
SB bets, BB calls, UTG calls, MP1 calls, MP3 calls, Hero calls, Button folds.
Thin call here. 2 overs make it 6 outs, plus bdfd for another out make it about 6:1 to call, so I do. (semi-coordinated board so I didn't like calling, but couldn't quite find the fold).
Turn: (6.50 BB) 8 (6 players)
SB bets, BB folds, UTG folds, MP1 folds, MP3 raises, Hero???

Can't fold now, that 8d was a perfect gin card. Implied odds are great if you hit a diamond or possibly even a 5.

Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

5:1 if SB calls, so call away.

you only need about 3:1 here, yes? assuming your A is clean.
heres my problem in these spots, though. you are getting 9.5:2 immediate...or 4.75:1. if sb calls, fine, 5.75:1.
but if sb 3bets and MP3 only calls, are you now getting 14.5:1?
if MP3 caps, are you getting 15.5:2...or 7.75:1?
in other words, you take into account the "current pot size" then add in what you need to call...one bet or two...right?
even though the odds get better as the pots get bigger, dont you have to consider at some point that all that strength means you are crushed? and, to do that, dont you just start discounting outs?

I doubt your A is clean, so I'd highly discount that. The FD is always clean.

assuming the A is clean, hypothetically, was the math at least correct?

You have the top end of the OESD, you have the nut flush draw, at this point I would ignore the overcard. Your equity is good (I'm not sure how good). There are two contributors to the pot--OTOH you don't close the action, but you may not care. I call but I suspect I should raise.
