Live 3/6 game last night, 8-handed, SB is a whale who thinks he knows how to play, UTG+1 is solid, rest of the table is loose-passive. I'm on the button.
Preflop I'm dealt 9 9
UTG calls, UTG+1 raises, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, CO folds, I raise, SB looks at his cards and then caps, BB folds, UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, I call.
Flop comes A 7 8
SB checks (as he always does with big hands on the flop in hopes of check-raising), UTG+1 checks (big PP but no ace?), MP1 checks, so I check as well. (You can tell the whole table was a bit shocked since I'm usually the tightest player there.)
Turn comes 9
SB bets, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, I raise (immediately bringing the comment "why didn't you bet on the flop?" LOL), SB calls, UTG+1 folds (indicating he's making a big laydown), MP1 calls.
River is a blank
Checked to me so I bet, SB calls, MP1 calls
SB had AK, MP1 had 78 and flopped 2 pair, UTG+1 showed his folded hand of QQ.
VERY nice pot, which was one of the few I raked last night. (Still finished up $85 in only about 2 hours play.)
