I'm starting to think that the loose-aggressive style that is generally advocated for 6-max play is just dead wrong. I'm starting to think that playing a ring-tight (like 20/10 split), fit-or-fold game is possibly the way to maximize my winnings against all these players who will play anything and call down with any piece of the board, any draw, any overcard, etc.

Basically 5/10 6-max on Party so far seems ultra-fishy, with players who will limp/call, cold call, whatever with any 2 rags, and will call down with any piece of the board. Shouldn't I be playing a more ABC game against these types?

What do I need to be thinking about in this particular game?

elipsesjeff is an unknown quantity at this point
By knowing you can't run these guys over you'll have to camp out for better hands. Reraise with KQ and Pocket pairs to isolate and throw out the QJo (etc.) crap from EP.

You are probably winning a lot of small pots but losing real big ones. They aren't paying you off but yet you continue to pay them off. Something has to change...

its a tougher game than you think.......playing too tight here is not the way to go. I played this game for a while but the swings were insane....a 500+ BB bankroll is really need to play here. I ran at about 1.5/100 here over 40K and had 2 downswings near 200bbs

So far I have almost 20,000 hands of 5/10 6-max under my belt and am running a decent 2.52 BB/100. The thing it seems like you most need to remember is that your play needs to change a LOT depending on the table you are sitting at. My overall stats are around 25/16, but some tables will be full of passive fish that you can just run over with lots of raises and bluffs while others will be full of calling stations with one maniac where a more ABC typed approach is definately a better strategy. I think the various table dynamics are so much different from each other that the ability to altar your play is just exponentially more important than it is at the typical 3/6 full ring game where you can count on almost every table to be 5 Taggs and then a maniac and a few loose fish.

I am around 29/17, but only 3000 hands. Running crazy g00t tho.. 6BB/100.
Random very bad advice-
Think like a typical 6max player:
I value bet AQo unimproved
I don't fold pairs HU
I raise a lot. like if there is a chance I have the bettor beat, I raise. If I probably don't have the bettor beat, but I am sure I have outs, I raise. If I am probably drawing dead, but there is a slim chance that I can get the bettor to fold, I raise.
Otherwise I just call
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

you can't play tight passive in a shorthanded game. the blinds come around much too often for you to make up for it if you don't put up a fight for the blinds.

but generally, like others have mentioned, reading the table and opponents is what contributes to your winrate.
