How do you play these if there is only say 1 caller or it's been folded to you? I mean if you have something like Ax suited in Button with 1 caller I can see the case for a raise but I'm not too sure how to handle soemthing like 78s or 44, should I just be mucking this? I can't really say I can see a case to go for a steal with these.

Classic raise or fold situation, IMO. Raise if you'd like to isolate that particular limper, otherwise there's nothing wrong with moving on to the next hand. I'm talking about Axs and small pairs here- I think you should almost always chuck small suited connectors in these spots because they really suck short handed. There's style consideration here, too. If beating people over the head with 33 works with your style/image, go for it.

ChezJ is an unknown quantity at this point
i think one reason to raise would be to increase the pot size so that if you hit your draw, you will keep more people in and maintain correct pot odds for yourself to continue. another is for fold equity in case an A/K flops and it's checked to you in LP. a final reason would be to add deception to your game, as your opponents will be less likely to put you on suited connectors if you actually flop your draw or a medium pair or two.

one thing to keep in mind is whether the one limper in the pot is weak or smart, as the former type will let you run them over with superior position and the latter may not.

If you think the blinds will call, I totally agree.
