This is probably one of my favorite plays in Stud. It's sort of like leading out into a preflop raiser after flopping a set in holdem knowing you're going to get raised.

Party Poker's hand histories for Stud suck for some reason, but you can see each of our completed hands at the end of the transcript. LadyPoker started with K (x x), caught a blank on 4th, an ace on 5th, and made open aces on 6th.

Nice hand

However I do not like to give people a cheap 4th street card with trips. I will slowplay it on 3rd but raise on 4th, I prefer to have a smaller pot and not let people draw on me

Perhaps, although she only had 2 outs, and slow-playing a bit allows me to get a double bet in on a big betting round.

Not really. The standard line is to limp and wait for 5th street to raise.

That is what I was expecting to see and likely what I would've done.

Rolled up small in a loose game where people will play any pair and take it too far, it's not a horrible idea to try and thin the field a little. They'll probably call you anyways and again on 4th street so I'd jam the pot. I like your play here because it disguises your hand. I likely would've thought my aces up on 6th were good if I was her.

I wouldn't do it in a tougher game though unless I was one of the first to act , which you were, but there would also have to be a lot of paint showing. With 3 aces and a Q coming later I'm not sure how many high cards were up on third? Too bad the hand history doesn't show what everyone else folded.
TheXianti: (Triptanes) why are you not a thinking person?
