Has anyone read either of these and if so are they any good??

TLR is an unknown quantity at this point
I have read the Ray zee book, it is a very good book IMO, I think it is much better the the stud 8 section in SS2

You mean Hi/lo Split for Advanced Players by Ray Zee right??
Cuz he co wrote the other one too:
Seven Card Stud For Advanced Players by Sklansky Mallmuth and Zee
