What will a straight beat?
1 A higher straight?
2 A flush?
3 But not a pair?

A straight will beat any poker hand that is better then it in high only poker game - so it will beat a higher straight, a flush, boat, quads, royal flush, but will be beaten by a lower flush, three of a kind or lower

I didn't know the rules when I first entered a 2-7 triple draw freeroll tourney on Stars. I found out quick, though. First, that Aces are high, and second, that straights aren't very good. I should have figured out both. From the name of the game, it's obvious.

It should be pointed out that A2345 is (nut) ace high, not a straight. It's losing to king high or better but beating other aces (chopping with another A2345 obviously) and pairs/worse.
I like this game a lot, I make more money from this than hold 'em, but I suspect it's because I play low limits, and there's a lot of fish around here.
