Here's my thought to share

four thoughts

(1) Your big pairs are going to get busted more often because you can't push people off their draws (or their baby two pairs in the SB and BB) like you can in NL. If things get off to a rough start keep in mind that your big pairs will still payoff in the long run. Don't get down on yourself.

(2) IMO, position is much more "respected" in NL than LHE, so be prepared for more loose entries from early positions. In NL people don't seem to limp in early with a bordeline hand as often, becasue they have been slapped down with 5-10BB raises (for example) enough times to know that trying to sneak a peak of the flop can get expensive after awhile in NL.

In LHE players seem to loosen up more and try to limp in with marginal hands. This makes it harder to put people on hands, and it means some of that "junk" on the board may not be trash for everyone.....

(3) I'll know I'll take some heat for this one
LHE is much harder to play post-flop than NL. The larger bets in NL often make for easier decisions - that is, the size of the bet may completly rule out continuing, or the bet may have played right into what you hope will be a sizeable pot for you. Decsions seem more yes/no post-flop in NL.

Also, more hands are played to completion in LHE, so your play needs to be very good post-flop.

(4) Don't fall into the LHE trap of it's only one more bet...chasing bad odds will suck the chips out of you so quick you'll wish you were back at NL.

(5) Don't lower your starting requirements becasue you see other players doing it. Many times they are getting drawn into "2nd best" hands that will cost them big.

And last, my personal favourite.

(6) Kickers are REAL important. Top kickers will make you money, and weak kickers will suck you dry in LHE. This is because some players think it is "relativley" cheap to play their Q10os etc mid position in LHE. Then they hit a Q96 flop and next thing you know they lose to KQs becasue they had a weak kicker. In reality, the kicker was only a problem because they were in a pot they should have never been in (and may never have been in in NL).

Good luck

The above are just personal thoughts, subject to revsion or comments by others.

Excuse the typos.

just to elaborate on Artic's thoughts

1) yep, your big pairs will lose their fair share, and win their fair share.

2) i'm not so sure position is more "respected".....i'd say it's more abused to make position relatively unimportant. a check raise all in vs the button is a major slap in the face.

sure...getting raised a couple bb after you limp sucks, but if you hit you're taking home that 100bb stack.

3) meh

4) yeh

5) yeh

6) yeh
