remembering what to play is pretty easy, don't call raises with hands like AJo, KT,

you pretty much want to either re-raise TT-AA and AK or fold in these pots

hands like 22-99, 67s, you want a family pot, try not to cold call a double raise with these hands

Here are a few things I keep in mind. If you have many players to a flop, you want to play suited connectors or Axs because your drawing value goes up because you'll be paid off if you hit. If you have fewer players to the flop, bigger hands and big pairs are what you want

Thanks for the help, but does that look like a proper ranking of the starting hands?

Thanks threeeggs, I saw that list before but i believe it's more for nolimit hold 'em. I probably started off with the wrong books I've read Harrington on Hold'em tournament play, cause I started off in a lot of sitngos. Then read Skalnsky's Hold'em for Advanced players.

I guess what I'm asking is does this look accurate?

Hand values change with the situation.

Some hands are good heads up vs an above average hand but become toilet paper multi-way (A8o)

Some hands play well multi-way, but are poor heads-up (87s)

Some hands hold value against a strong hand (44), others become trash (AJo)

Thinking in terms of hand groups is just one or two steps up from playing hands because they look good.

Thanks for your help. Is there anywhere that does rank the starting hands properly? Also does the ranking of starting hands differ from limit to no-limit play?

I agree with the authors who wrote the document I took this from, I believe 33's and 22's have little or no value. However I was playing a sitngo and a person went all in with 22's I was on the button it cost me about a quarter of my stack I called with AQo, and you know what happens next the 22's held up.

I also read you should never raise with TT's is this true?

Thanks for all of your help you guys are great!

Thinking like this doesn't get the money in any game where most of the players are trying.

Tourney poker is very different from cash poker. Also, he had the best of it pre-flop...

I'm so glad people write such horrible advice.

He may have been a little harsh, but you have picked up some really bad advice somewhere. Again, read SSH, reread SSH, sleep with SSH under your pillow, etc.
