A rock garden.
I recently graduated from Party's 0.5/1 and since the rake is really bad at Party's 1/2 I moved to Stars to grab hold of several advantages.
1. They have reasonable rake at 1/2!
2. I can dabble in the 180-fish SNGs!
3. How bad could it be!
Well, at almost all hours of the day (excluding peak) I'll look for as long as half an hour to find a good seat, and almost every time I sit down I've had the following observation:
With 6-max, there is never less than 2 laggy, semidecent players and 2 taggy semidecent players beating the tar out of a couple fish.
With full ring, other than peak hours the flop percentage is almost always <35%. As I write this, 4 of the 6-7 full tables at 1/2 have a flop percentage of around 25%. And some are less than that.
Okay, I know what you're thinking. Easily beatable with aggression and solid postflop play. For me, this is like squeezing blood from a stone. I hate sitting there when 6-7 players have less VP$IP than I do, and I'm playing TABTA.
And this is only 1/2!!!
The players are way better (in general) than I had ever seen at Party's 0.5/1. Even though 0.5/1 is the lowest Party spread, and probably the easiest hold 'em game on the internet, this is like taking 3 steps up that I'm just not ready for.
Is there a consistently good 1/2 game around? I'm looking for a place that has several tables going as well, not just 1 or 2. I would go to FullTilt but they don't spread 1/2 6max, and I mostly play 6max. Pokerroom is another option, but they only have a 5max and that seems too different to me to be comfortable.
Thoughts? Experiences in Stars 1/2?
Anybody?

Try the Crypto game.

To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

I'm agree with Demi in recommending Crypto for 1/2 6-max.
Opponents there are weak and mostly passive--a wide range from TP to LP, but not much aggression. This means variance will be low and win rate can still be pretty good. And also importantly, the players on Crytpo play predictably.
To give you something to compare it to, the players at Crypto are tighter in general than on Party, less aggressive, more predictable, and just as terrible at grasping the funadamentals of poker. You can profitably play a wider range of hands on Crypto than on party.
Also, the rake structure is good. And if you don't have an account at Carribbean Sun, you can sign up through FTR and get 25% rakeback.

I'm in this same boat for full ring, although I have a feeling despite the rake Party is still my best option....
If anyone is bored it'd be cool to see a personal ranking of sites for the 1/2 game

I played in the Stars 1/2 with some other FTR folks a couple times. It was pretty loose/passive by my standards. 4 pretty bad like 40/5 ish players. The rest tight/passives and wanana-bet TAgg. No one was getting a lot of value out of their hands and you could bet with impunity.

<35% is hardly a rock garden but it's no 50%, that's for sure. If you really want to make money playing limit holdem, listen to all these other fine folks and learn to play 6max. The sites with 5max are usually even fishier. I'm personally not comfortable with less than a 500BB bankroll for 6max play.
