not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but ive been in multiple situations where theres four to a straigh on the board (open ended or gut). for example, flop - 678rainbow, turn - 9 and i will have the 10. someone will check raise me and ill just call it down assuming a split pot. id rather not drive the rake up when its HU. anyway, the showdown comes and the villan will have the 5 (in this example) or two pair. it doesnt happen all the time, but when it does, you definately miss bets. however, when you raise and reraise and you end up splitting the pot, you actually lose money to the rake. any thoughts about hands such as these?

Quite often the rake caps out by then anyway, so in most of the games I play in, I don't worry about it.
