BB is pretty lag. Checked the river cause the only thing I could beat was a draw, thought he would call.

No reads - I'm also starting to wonder how good calling QJ UTG is, could easily be bad play or not enough hands but I've never had any luck with it.

Yes, you should be folding QJo from UTG, even if the game is loose (as .5/1 games almost always are). Suited is a different story. If the game is loose, you can limp QJs UTG. But offsuit, just fold QJo in early position--too easy to be dominated, doesn't play well against a raise, and out-of-position it's difficult to determine where you stand if you flop a single pair. The same problems exist for QJs but the extra flush potential makes it stronger (partly because of the extra chance to hit a flush, and partly because a flush draw on the flop will often give you the odds to call and you will sometimes hit a good hand that isn't a flush, like a backdoored striaght for example; similarly, a pair that you suspect may not be best combined with a backdoor flush draw will sometimes materialize into a flush or give you a draw on the turn again allowing you to call).
